Why is voice chat not working in Overwatch 2?

Voice chat doesn’t work in Overwatch 2 because your microphone is most likely muted.

Otherwise, you haven’t given the game access to your microphone.

If you’re using Xbox, your headset microphone may be disabled.

Also, your “Group chat output” may be set incorrectly.

Instead of “Headphones & Speakers”, it can be set to “Speakers”.

If so, your teammates won’t be able to hear you because the headset doesn’t pick up your voice.

To fix voice chat not working in Overwatch 2, you need to allow the game to access your microphone (for PC and Xbox).

If you’re using Xbox, you’ll need to set “Group chat output” to “Headphones & Speakers” instead of just “Headphones” or “Speakers.”

If you’re using a PC, make sure to set your microphone as the default device.

Also, you need to disable “Exclusive Control” and “Exclusive Mode” for it.

Fix voice chat for PC:

Allow microphone access: Search for “Microphone privacy settings” using Windows search > Enable “Microphone access” > Enable “Allow apps to access your microphone”.
Set as default device: Search for “Control Panel” using Windows search > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Right-click your microphone and set it as default device.
Enable exclusivity: Search for “Control Panel” using Windows search > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Right click on your microphone > Properties > Advanced > Allow apps to take exclusive control of the device this > Off.

Note: Make sure that “Allow apps to access your microphone” for “Overwatch 2” is enabled.

Fix voice chat for Xbox:

Turn on the headset microphone: Press the Xbox Sky button > Sound & Music > Headset Mic > On.
Adjust voice chat settings: Launch Overwatch 2 > Start > Options > Sound > Voice Chat > Group/Group Voice Chat > Auto Join > Voice Chat Mode > Open Mic.
Turn on headphones & speakers: Open Xbox settings > General > Volume & audio output > Additional options > Group chat output > Headset & speakers.
