How to Use Canva App for Creating Instagram Highlight Covers

Step 1: Launch the Canva app on your phone.

Create Instagram Highlights on the Canva iOS App

Step 1: Launch the Canva app and tap Instagram Story under the Create New Design heading. You can also use the search feature to find Instagram Stories.

Step 2: Tap on Blank.

Step 3: Click on the white area to change the background color with the help of the Colors tab at the bottom. You can even add an image as a background.

Step 4: Tap the add (+) icon to add other elements like photos, illustrations, or text to your cover. Keep them centered for best results.

Step 5: Use the page icon to add more pages with similar backgrounds. Then add the necessary elements.

Step 6: Once done, tap the save icon at the top to download the cover photo to your Camera Roll.

If you don’t want to start from scratch, you can customize the pre-built bookmark covers available in Canva. To use them, find the featured cover of your Instagram Story by searching in Canva.

You will find many templates. Tap on any of them and then modify them according to your needs.

You can also use the Canva website to create a featured cover photo. To do that, launch the website canva.com. Use the search feature to find an Instagram Story (if you want to start over) or an Instagram Story featured cover photo (for pre-made designs).

Click Blank (if you selected Instagram Stories). Then change the background color and add other elements using the available options. Again, make sure to keep the design centered.

Use the Download button at the top to save the image to your computer. Then use file transfer apps to send it to your phone, from where you can change the cover photo in the Instagram app, as shown below.

Step 1: Launch the Instagram app and go to your profile screen.

Step 2: Tap and hold on the highlight area with the cover you want to change. Select Edit Markup from the menu.

Step 4: Click on the library icon on the far left. You may have to scroll right if you’re using a cover from an existing story.

Step 5: If the highlight is designed with an element in the middle, you don’t have to do anything. But if you find that it doesn’t align, then modify its position. You can zoom and move it. Tap Next and then tap Done. Here’s how the end result will look.
