Set Custom Vibrations for Specific Android Contacts – Guiding Tech

Almost all phones offer the option to set custom ringtones for specific contacts to determine who is calling you without even looking at your phone. But this trick doesn’t work when your phone is set to vibrate only silent mode. Because it only vibrates one way.

Today I will share a method by which Android users can set custom vibration patterns for their contacts or groups. Just imagine the fun of determining who is calling you without looking at the phone even when the phone is on vibrate. Sounds great, doesn’t it? So let’s get to work.

Hot Tip: While we were talking about silent mode, we thought we mentioned that there is a good trick we discussed about forwarding missed calls to your email. Please check it out too.

Use Vibrating Contacts on Android

Install and launch Contact Vibrate on your Android to get started. Before we start, let me tell you that the app comes with several pre-configured vibration patterns. Tap option Saved vibrations to have a look at them. To test the vibration, long-tap a pattern and select test option. The phone will then start vibrating in that particular pattern. If you want to create that custom vibration, tap the . icon new button.

There are two modes in which you can style the vibration. Tap mode and Morse mode. Let’s see how both work.

Tap Mode

In tap mode, there will be a big red box on the screen. The idea is, think of a vibration in your head and then hit the box in exactly the same way. The phone won’t vibrate immediately, but the box will change color from red to green indicating the sample is being recorded.

When you’re done, set a delay time and tap the Test button to get a feel for your work. If you make a mistake, use Reset button to start. Fight Rescue when you want to save the template.

Morse mode

All I know about Morse mode is that whatever you type in the text box provided, the app vibrates the way the letters are represented by Morse code. Once you’ve done this, set the speed and delay time and save the vibration by name.

Now that you’ve created your custom vibration, let’s set it to a template. On the app’s welcome screen, tap the option Set vibration for a contact. Scroll and search for the contact to which you want to apply the custom vibration and tick that name. On the pop-up box, press Select vibrate and select one from the saved vibration list. You can also directly name contacts with Morse code as their vibration pattern.
