Among the many tricks and methods, one way to increase internet speed is to take care of your DNS mapping. Besides monitoring your broadband and internet speed, DNS is something that really makes a difference.

There are other contenders like Google DNS. So how do you know which works best for your position?
In this article, we will tell you about a service called Namebench which is an open source benchmarking utility for DNS servers. Namebench looks for a set of DNS servers available for your computer with a recommendation that might be the best one. Based on your location, web browser history, tcpdump output and other things, it suggests (without changing itself) you to replace your DNS address.
Download the required OS version of the application and let it run on your machine. Extract installation files and you will see a test interface.
There are both options; Includes global DNS providers And Includes the best regional DNS services availablechecked. Benchmark starts to perform the test. This usually takes about 10-15 minutes, and your patience will give you DNS change recommendations and graphical comparison results.
Let’s see the results from the test I did. The app suggested that DWL IN is 6.6 percent faster than my current primary DNS server.
Along with the alternate address, it also shows me a list of secondary and tertiary choices. The addresses reveal that my current DNS map is third on the list and I would benefit if I consider changing.
In addition, the result set shows a complete bar graph of Response Duration among the durations available for use.
Again, however, the Response Distribution Chart adds to the analysis and extends the explanation of the recommendations it makes.
How to change DNS address?
If you are convinced by the results and want to change the address, you will have to edit the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties for your connection (in Windows). Go Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Select Connection > Properties > Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
Check radio button says Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the new one Preferred DNS server and Alternative DNS server address.
Conclusion
Doing all of these things can only increase your speed and browsing experience. For me the gain is not very high but I have seen people speed up to 40%. Let us know if you see a noticeable difference in your browsing speed after changing to the tool-recommended DNS.
