As a tech blogger, you often find me working with a full-screen browser window. It’s because it gives me a fuller view or because I need to take better screenshots. But I also have multiple tabs open and often have to switch between URLs.
For more everyday use, let’s take the example of Chrome browser and reading task in full screen mode. You can view it in full screen by pressing F11. There are now two ways you can switch between Chrome tabs in full screen mode.
Use keyboard shortcuts
In Chrome, you can cycle between open tabs by pressing Ctrl+Tab to access the tab next to the currently open tab. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+Shift+Tab to go to the previous tab. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+1 to access the first tab, Ctrl+2 to access the second tab, etc.
Use Chrome Extensions
Keyboard ninjas will definitely use the default solution above, but if you prefer to use a mouse then you have to go back to using the Chrome extension. SwiftClick is a simple Chrome extension that helps you switch between tabs in full screen mode using the middle button (or scroll wheel) of your mouse. SwiftClick is a new way to switch between open Chrome tabs.
SwiftClick works in one of two ways – both in normal mode as well as in full screen mode. You just need to click the middle mouse wheel (or button) and a preview page will open with thumbnails of all your open tabs. Just select the tab you want to go to. Also, as you can see in the screenshot, SwiftClick allows you to open a new URL by showing the address bar when you hover near the top of the preview window.
Probably the only glitch is that sometimes the thumbnails don’t display correctly. However, the URLs are mentioned below the thumbs, so this shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
