phone and those who don’t have it yet are planning to buy one shortly. So, with so much Android around, we often talk about new apps and how they help each of us in our daily lives, and so we have situations where I might like an app on a friend’s phone and want to quickly install it on my phone as well.

Of course, I could open Google Play and download apps, but why waste bandwidth when I could have my friends transfer it to me via Bluetooth. Sounds interesting doesn’t it? This can be done through 2 nifty apps: Astro App and Bluetooth Transfer.

Astro is the leading file explorer for Android and I’m sure most of you have come across it. It is without a doubt one of the best Android file explorers one can use, but it is much more than that. One of Astro’s features is that it allows you to backup installed apps on your memory card as APK files so you can restore them at a time of crisis. What we will do is, we will see how we can generate the APK of an individual file and send it via Bluetooth to another device using this tool.

Steps to send app APK via Bluetooth

After you have downloaded and installed Astro on your Android, run the app, press the install soft key and choose tools to open a pop-up window.

Select App Backup from the tool window that pops up and wait for Astro to make a list of all the apps installed on your Android. In the list, select the app you want to send via Bluetooth and click the . button backup button to generate the APK file. You can also select multiple apps. When the backup is complete, press the back soft key to return to Astro Home.

On the home screen you will see all the files and folders in your mounted SD card. Navigate to the Backups folder—> Applications to find the APK files you created above.

Well, our journey with Astro completes here. We will now use the Bluetooth File Transfer for Android app to transfer these files over Bluetooth because APK access to Bluetooth is locked by default on most devices. Once you’ve downloaded and installed the Bluetooth File Transfer app on your Android, launch the app.

In the Bluetooth File Transfer app, navigate to the same Backups—>Apps folder and select the file you want to send. Once selected, press the Bluetooth button, search for the device and send the file. As soon as the receiver receives the file, he will be able to work.

Note: If you are thinking, you can send paid app to your friends then you are wrong because as soon as the recipient runs Google Play, it will be reverted to the free version.

My judgment

This method of transferring APK files can really come in handy when you want an app to be installed on another Android phone and you are on a train or flight from where you cannot access Google Play.
