Google Chrome typically allows you to save your credit or debit card details whenever you add them to an online form. However, those little reminders are pretty easy to miss. Furthermore, Chrome may not always let you decide whether to save your information online or offline. Therefore, waiting for the browser to prompt you to save your tag details won’t work.
But don’t worry — you can always add your credit card information directly. That way, you have full control over what gets synced between your devices and what stays local. In addition, you can also edit or delete outdated payment methods quite easily. So without further ado, let’s see how you can do all of this in more detail.
Add a credit card to Chrome
Chrome has two ways to save credit card information. You can add your card details to Google Pay. Google Pay will make this available in Chrome on all your devices, as long as you’re signed in to the browser with a Google Account. Or you can choose to save your credit cards locally, which means you can only access them from the device where you added them in the first place.
Save credit cards to Google Pay and sync with Chrome
Adding your credit card information to Google Pay is extremely useful if you want to sync your cards across devices. Get started by going to the Google Payments Center web portal using Chrome on your desktop, Android or iOS device.
Once you’re in the Google Payments Center, switch to the Payment Methods tab, and then click or tap Add a payment method. You can then insert your credit or debit card details. Then, click or tap Save.

Your saved payment methods will then appear in Chrome whenever you come across a form asking you to fill in your credit card details. However, you must enable the “Google Pay payment methods and addresses” sync option in Chrome to provide your credit card details on any of your devices.
If you’ve disabled the feature, go to Chrome Settings > Google Sync and Services > Manage Sync to re-enable it.
Save credit cards in Chrome locally
If you don’t use Chrome on multiple devices or aren’t comfortable with storing your cards online in Google Pay, saving and keeping them on the device itself should do the trick.
To add and save your credit or debit card details locally, click or tap Payment methods in Chrome Settings on your desktop or Android device.
Click the Add or Add Card option, add your payment details, then click or tap Save. Chrome will then suggest your credit card whenever you come across an online payment form. If you also have card details stored in Google Pay, you’ll see all the suggestions in the same list.
On iOS, Chrome doesn’t have a direct option that lets you save credit card details locally. As a workaround, you can disable Chrome Sync (Chrome Settings > Google Sync and Services > Sync your Chrome data), fill out the details in the actual online form, then save the details when prompted. That will force the browser to store the information on the device itself.
Edit or delete a credit card in Chrome
Outdated credit card details, redundant information, and duplicate entries give you plenty of reasons to edit or delete saved credit card information. This will depend on where the card details are stored — Google Pay or offline within Chrome itself.
Edit/Delete Credit Card in Google Pay
To edit or delete credit card information stored in Google Pay, you must go to the Google Payments Center. Once you’re there, just tap Edit or Delete to edit or delete your credit or debit card.

To edit or delete locally stored card details, go to the Payment Methods panel in Chrome Settings. Payment information is stored locally without the ‘Google Pay’ tag, which makes it easier to identify them.
On the desktop, click the three-dot icon listed next to details, then click Edit or Delete as desired. On Android, just tap the entry and then you can edit or delete the information. On iOS, tap an item to edit it, or swipe left if you want to delete it.
