How to Directly Upload Your Dropbox Photos to Facebook

I’m a Dropbox fan. It’s like an extension of my hard disk in the cloud. Of course, one of the most important uses for which I use my Dropbox account is for backups, and my first priority is all my precious photos. As soon as I transfer the pictures from my digital camera to my computer, I also upload them to Dropbox.

Furthermore, I love sharing my photos on Facebook and I used to upload similar sets of photos to Facebook as well. Now, the point is, since I’m not on an unlimited bandwidth plan, using twice the bandwidth for the same group of snaps always makes my conscience question (read hurts my pocket). Not to mention I had to put in extra work to upload them to Facebook.

Therefore, automatically uploading my photos from Dropbox to Facebook makes perfect sense for me taking into account the troubles mentioned above.

Like me, if you want to automatically upload photos from your Dropbox account to Facebook, this is an easy method to do it.

We will create rules using Dropboxautomator – a tool that allows you to set all kinds of automation rules from Dropbox – which will continuously scan a predefined folder in our Dropbox account and upload photos to Facebook as soon as it sees a new addition. Here are the steps to set it up.

Step 1: Go to Dropboxautomator and sign in with your Dropbox account.

Step 2: The Dropbox API will ask you to confirm an external app is connecting to your account. Click the Allow button to grant access.

Step 3: Now select the folder where you upload your images and click Next.

Choose a folder

Note: You can only select one folder while creating a rule, and therefore, if you have multiple folders, you will have to create a separate rule for each folder.

Step 4: The service will ask you to choose one of the many available actions. Navigate to the Images section and select upload to Facebook. You will now be asked to authenticate your Facebook account.

Connect

Step 5: Your Facebook account will now ask you to approve some app permissions. Review and allow them.

Facebook authorization

Step 6: Now name the Facebook folder along with the comments. Click Add action and finish the process.

Comment and Album Name

From now on, every time you upload some photos to the above specified folder in Dropbox, they will also be uploaded to your Facebook album.

At any time in the future if you want to stop the rule, go to the Automation page and stop the rule accordingly. You can also delete them if you don’t plan to use it in the future.

My judgment

Dropboxautomator makes it easy to create work rules whenever certain files are uploaded to a Dropbox account. While this guide highlights the automated Facebook image upload process, you can create more automations. Try it out and let us know how it works for you.
