Bulk Resize Images, Change Resolutions At One Go With Lightning Image Resizer

Today’s modern digital cameras are quite powerful, and every photo we click using them is usually high resolution. While these high resolution photos can be used effectively to create collages and wall photos, as far as their digital uses are concerned (like sharing them online) it is better to resize them.

Resizing and changing the resolution not only reduces the file size, but also makes them suitable for uses such as web uploads and wallpapers.

Lightning Image Resizer is a free software that provides a convenient platform to batch resize images and change their resolution without significant quality loss. The tool is portable in nature and therefore does not require installation of any kind. Now let’s talk about how to process images using it.

Image processing

The images you want to process can be added manually by selecting individual files or by importing entire folders. You can also drag and drop your images into the program, which is always my preferred method but make sure the file type is supported by the tool.

In case a subfolder exists, all images contained in it will also be accepted.

If you want to preview any image, you can quickly double-click to open a small preview window. This can be used to make sure you’ve put the correct images in the process list.

Now choose the output format of the image, which can be the same as the source or in JPG, BMP, GIF, PNG or EMF format. When resizing, the program ensures that the aspect ratio of the image is always preserved, meaning that you can only work on any of the properties, such as Width, Height, Percentage, or maximum size.

The name of the resized image can be changed by selecting (adding) Postfix or Prefix or simply entering text in a blank box.

One of the special features of this application is that it can crop or turn an image taken in 4:3 into a wide 16:9 image, but only images in landscape can be processed in this way.

Finally, when it comes to saving the processed image, you can either save it to an existing folder or you can simply create a new folder. All you have to do is press open and navigate to the desired folder. Once the folder is created, press start. Here you go, all your processed images will be saved in the newly created folder.

My judgment

Lightning Image Resizer is an easy tool to resize multiple images in bulk. One of the app’s notable features is that it uses an adjustable number of threads to process multiple image files and thus makes processing lightning fast (and hence the name!).
