How to Add Images to Outlook Email and Email Body on Mobile and Desktop

Microsoft Outlook is a popular email client that lets you manage your email. In addition to using Outlook email, you can also integrate Gmail into Outlook. This prevents you from switching between apps to check and manage your email.

You can also share images via email with your contacts. And this post will show you the steps to add photos to Outlook email and email body using your Mobile and Desktop. We will cover the steps for different platforms in this post. So make sure you are using an updated version of Outlook on your respective device.

Add images to Outlook desktop emails

You can send pictures to your Outlook contacts as email attachments. First, let us demonstrate how to insert an image into your Outlook email (as an attachment) using the Desktop app. Please note that Outlook only allows email attachment sizes up to 20MB. For larger file sizes, you can share them using OneDrive.

For the window

Step 1: Click the Start icon on the Taskbar, type Opinion, and press Enter to open Outlook.

Step 2: Click New Email in the top left corner.

Step 3: Click the Insert tab in the New Message window.

Step 4: Click Attach File to select your image.

That will attach the image of your choice to your email.

You can click the arrow icon next to your attachment and select Remove attachment.

for Macs

Step 1: Press the keyboard shortcut Command + Spacebar to open Spotlight Search, type Opinion, and press Back.

Step 2: Click New Message at the top left.

Step 3: Click Attach File in Compose section.

Step 4: Select the file source and attach the same.

When Outlook attaches an image, you’ll see an icon of your attachment. You can enter email and send it.

To delete an attachment, click the drop-down menu and select Delete.

Add inline images to Outlook desktop emails

If you don’t want to send the image as an attachment on Outlook, you also have the option to send it as an inline image. This means you can add images directly to your email body. Here’s how to insert an image into your Outlook email (not as an attachment) using the Desktop app.

For the window

Step 1: Click the Start icon on the Taskbar, type Opinion, and press Enter to open Outlook.

Step 2: Click New Email in the top left corner.

Step 3: Select the Format Text tab in the New Message window.

Step 4: Click the three horizontal dots to the right in the Format Text tab.

Step 5: Select HTML as the Message Format.

Step 6: Place the cursor in the email message body where you want the inline image.

Step 7: Click the Insert tab and select Pictures.

After you select the image, it will be added as an inline image in the body of your email.

for Macs

Step 1: Press the keyboard shortcut Command + Spacebar to open Spotlight Search, type Opinion, and press Back.

Step 3: Place the cursor in the email body where you want to place the inline image.

Step 4: Click the Image icon in the Format menu bar.

Step 5: Select your file source and then attach the image to the email body.

You can then select the inline image to resize if desired.

You can right click on the image and choose Format Picture to edit your Inline image.

Add images to Outlook mobile emails

While using the Outlook app on iPhone or Android to manage your email, you can add pictures as attachments and as Inline images. The steps remain the same for iPhone and Android.

Step 1: Open the Outlook app on your Android or iPhone.

Step 2: Tap the Plus icon in the lower right corner (iPhone) or tap New Email in the lower right corner (Android).

Step 3: Click the Attachment icon.

Step 4: Choose a file location on your iPhone or Android to attach the image.

The image will be added as an attachment to your email.

To turn it into an inline image, tap the three dots next to the attachment and select Move to message body.

You can select Remove Attachment to remove it from your email.
