I know, I know, I mentioned iTunes and Android in the title too close together. Trust me, I don’t mean to be disrespectful. If you can get on with your life without using iTunes to buy and sync music to your mobile device, you’ll have more power. But you see, some of us have invested heavily in the iTunes ecosystem, buying songs over the years, and using an app that is perfectly capable of managing content across different devices. .
It’s possible that some of us own Macs, of which iTunes is truly one of the best media players around. Whatever reasons we may have, they are legal. We need to sync music and playlists with our Android phones that we love so much and we need to find free, fast and reliable ways to do it, preferably something that doesn’t need to be. broadcast by wire. Luckily for us, I found the right ones.
Note: The two apps listed here have Mac and PC clients. The procedure detailed here is for Mac clients but I also tested Windows clients and apart from the installation process everything else is exactly the same.
1. doubleTwist – Wired Sync
I talked about doubleTwist and the best way to sync playlists from your Mac or PC to your Android wirelessly when I compared it to iSyncr. But Wi-Fi syncing requires an extra $2. Worthwhile but not the goal of this article.
Luckily, doubleTwist will let you sync songs and playlists from iTunes to Android for free if you’re willing to connect it via USB. This process is detailed in the article I linked above. It is very simple. Once the device is connected, open the doubleTwist app on the desktop, select the device, check the playlist you want to sync, click the button Sync and you’re done.
2. Simple drag and drop
It’s not as flashy as the other option but it gets the job done. You can’t sync iTunes playlists this way, but you can copy music directly from iTunes and organize it in folders for better management.
Step 1: Connect your Android device to your PC and enable USB Mass Storage Mode. Your device should now show up in Windows Explorer.
Step 2: Open Android drive and locate Music folder where you want to copy the music. Or if you want you can create a folder anywhere in the drive, just remember the location.
Step 3: Launch iTunes and open it side-by-side with an Explorer window. Now select any number of songs you want, click and drag them all into the Explorer window. Wait while the songs are copied, remove the device, open the music player on your phone and listen.
Later on, you can create playlists from folders on your Android phone pretty easily.
3. Wireless sync with Cheetah Sync
Cheetah Sync is an Android app that allows you to wirelessly sync files and folders from your Android phone. Ashish has written a general guide to the app but here I will focus on how you can use Cheetah Sync to transfer music from your PC to your Android phone wirelessly.
Note: Setting up Cheetah Sync will take some time but don’t let that turn off.
Download the Cheetah Sync Mac or Windows client depending on the Android system and application.
Step 1: Launch Cheetah Sync desktop client. It is a background widget and you don’t need to do anything else.
Step 2: On the Android app, we will first need to create a Job. A task is a set of instructions that the application remembers and executes according to your request. They are saved, so repeated syncing is simple.
Step 3: Enter Synchronization of work menu and wait for the application to look for the desktop client. Select the computer when it appears.
Step 4: From the bottom of the screen select Create a new job. The application will now display the entire document folder on your PC. We need to navigate to the iTunes folder in User\(username)\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music by default in Mac and C:\Users\(username)\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music in Windows.
Step 5: From this list, select the folder you want to sync by touching Tick icon. iTunes sorts folders by artist. If you want to sync your entire iTunes library, select Music directory itself.
Step 6: Now Cheetah Sync will show your Android phone memory. Select the folder where you want to save the music.
Step 7: From the last screen, tap synchronization direction and make sure the option for Computer to Android chosen. Then press Rescue. Your work will now show up in Synchronization of work list.
Step 8: To activate the newly created job, go to Syncmake sure the job is selected and touched sync now and that’s it.
This may seem a bit long but if you do it right, by selecting the folder where you save all your new music then repeating this action (syncing newly added songs) will only include Step 8 , because Cheetah Sync has memorized all the details of the job. Just sync and all the new songs you’ve added to the folder will be copied to your device.
