Our photos are now living in the cloud. The ones worth sharing and looking at. They can be on Facebook, Google+, Flickr, or backed up to a personal cloud account in Dropbox or Google Drive. How do I mix them all together or display them on a big screen TV running Chromecast, with Apple TV included or with built-in DLNA support?

Next time you have friends and family visiting and want to show them photos of your trip, open one of the apps listed below. Or you can use them to upload to Facebook photos of your friends, which can make for a lively evening of scrutiny and gossip. Ah, sweet internet.

CastBox for Android

Once you’re signed in, CastBox shows all your Facebook photos. You can select an album to display. Touching a photo will display it on the TV screen instantly. Swiping left/right between photos also works. There is also a slideshow mode.

Google+ Photos: If your photos have been uploaded to a private or public Google+ album, use the Photos app on Android to stream them to Chromecast.

CastBox can also do the same for your local photos.

Framebook (Android, iOS) has all the perks of CastBox plus one extra feature. It also allows you to view photos from your friends’ profiles. But for this extra service you need to pay $2 as an in-app purchase.

Stevie

Stevie

Stevie (iOS, Android) is a weird app. After you log in with Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc., it will create some kind of user interface of your TV news station. A large portion of the screen will play a video, photos will show up on the side, and a banner at the bottom will read status updates.

Streambel for iOS

If you want to display local photos from your iOS device on your TV, Streambels is one of the better options. It has a simple user interface, doesn’t show any ads, and will let you cast all your local photos and videos to Chromecast with a single tap.

AllCast will help you transfer photos and videos locally easily but also has an option to sign in to cloud services like Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.

Once the account is connected, browse to the photos/videos, touch them and they will show up on the TV.
