How to Add Charts and Diagrams into Google Slides

Most analytical presentations and slideshows are incomplete without charts and diagrams. These little illustrations provide a visual representation of data and growth—otherwise, it would be a bit difficult (and boring) to explain in words and sentences. In addition to the visual presentation, the charts and graphs also add a bit of color. If you use Google Slides often, we’ll show you how to easily add charts and diagrams to Google Slides.

How to Add Charts and Diagrams in Google Slides

Google Slides is very flexible and gives you a number of different ways to add charts and diagrams. You can create them directly here or link them from other Google entities like Sheets. Alternatively, you can also create diagrams outside of Slides and add them through add-ons like Lucidchart. Cool, right?

So without further ado, let’s get started.

How to link charts in slides

If you’ve already created charts on Google Sheets, linking them to Slides is super easy.

Step 1: To link a chart, click Insert > Chart > From Sheet.

You’ll see all the spreadsheets you’ve created so far (under your existing Google account). Now, you just need to select one to add it.

In addition to the above, Google Slides also allows you to link to a sheet when you copy and paste a chart directly from the Sheet.

Moving on, Sheets also allows you to change the style of the chart.

To do so, click on the chart’s three-dot menu, select Edit. Once the Chart Editor is open, click Setup and choose a type from under Chart Type.

Click on it and you will see the updated chart in front of you. Simple, right?

Try out the diagram add-on

Like other Google entities like Forms and Sheets, Google Slides also allows you to add add-ons. And luckily, there are quite a few add-ons for diagrams and Lucidchart is one of them.

This add-on allows you to import diagrams into Google Slides as flowcharts, network diagrams, Venn diagrams, etc. The good thing is that if you already have diagrams in Lucidchart, you can import them in no time. .

Now that everything is in place, let’s see how to add a diagram to Google Slides via Lucidchart.

Click to add it, and that’s about it. Your new diagram will be uploaded to Google Slides.

By default, Google adds a link to the original map and you can remove it. Like any other image, Slides also gives you the option to scale it according to your preference.

This is a convenient method

But at the end of the day, if you’re not willing to give access to third-party add-ons, you can also use the built-in module for Diagrams. Currently, you can play with six different types of diagrams. While they’re not anything complicated, they always get the job done.
