Where can I find the invite to collaborate feature on Instagram
When you share a post, story or Instagram Story, choose to tag people and an ‘Invite to collaborate’ option will appear on your account. You can read our dedicated post on how to collaborate on Instagram posts with your friends.
1. Deactivate Personal Account
Private accounts on Instagram can only accept collaboration requests. The ‘Invite to collaborate’ function will not appear for such an account. You should adjust your account privacy in Settings.
Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your phone.
Step 2: Tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner.
Step 3: Tap the more menu (looks like three horizontal lines) in the top right corner.
Step 4: Select Settings from the pop-up menu.
Step 5: Select Privacy.
Step 6: Turn off the switch next to Personal Account.
Restart the Instagram app to check if collaboration is available for your account.
2. Switch to a Business or Professional Account
If the “Invite collaborators” feature isn’t showing on your personal Instagram account, change your account type to Business or Professional. Here’s what you need to do.
Note: Instagram uses the same UI on iOS and Android. We used screenshots from Instagram for Android app. You can do it the same way on your iPhone and change your account type.
Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your phone.
Step 2: Tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner.
Step 3: Tap the more menu (looks like three horizontal lines) in the top right corner.
Step 4: Select Settings from the pop-up menu.
Step 5: Select Account. Scroll to ‘Switch account type.’
Step 6: Select ‘Switch to business account.’
You will then need to wait about 48 hours for the changes to apply and repost the story or Story. The ‘Invite collaborators’ feature will then be visible to your account.
3. Let people tag you on Instagram
Can’t receive collaboration requests from other Instagram accounts? Do your friends often complain about not being able to find you to collaborate on a post or Story? You need to allow people to tag you on the platform.
Step 6: Open the article. Tap the radio button next to People.
4. Force stop Instagram
‘Invite to collaborate’ still not showing for your account? You need to force stop the app and try again.
Step 1: Long press on the Instagram app icon and open the info menu.
Step 2: Tap ‘Force Stop’ and open Instagram.
5. Verify your Instagram account
Because your Instagram login information is outdated, you may have trouble performing basic tasks on the social network. Normally, Instagram will automatically log you out of your account. Otherwise, use the steps below to verify your account.
Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your phone.
Step 2: Tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner.
Step 3: Tap the more menu (looks like three horizontal lines) in the top right corner.
Step 4: Select Settings from the pop-up menu.
Step 5: Scroll down and sign out of the account. Sign in with your updated account details and check the Invite collaborators option in the app.
6. Clear cache on Instagram
Instagram collects cache in the background to improve app performance on your phone. Corrupted cache can lead to uses like not being able to invite collaborators on Instagram. You need to clear Instagram cache and try again.
Step 1: Long press on the Instagram app icon and open the info menu.
Step 2: Select “Storage and cache” and tap Clear cache.
7. Instagram Update
Instagram regularly releases new updates to add features and fix bugs. You will need to update Instagram to the latest version from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
8. Check Instagram Status
When the Instagram server goes down, you may experience issues like invite collaborators not showing up. You can go to Downdetector and search Instagram to confirm the problem. You will find high reports and outages from users.
9. Invite collaborators before posting
You can’t invite collaborators after sharing a post, story, or Story. You need to tag people before you upload a post.
