How to Play Spotify with Alexa on Amazon Echo

Even with fierce competition in the music streaming space, Spotify is still the preferred choice of users. Amazon is leading the way with Echo devices and Alexa integration in the Smart Home. On Echo devices, the default music streaming service is set to Amazon Music. However, you can easily use other options like Apple Music and Spotify with Alexa. This is the way.

In our dedicated comparison, we concluded Spotify is better than Amazon’s product. You can tune your Echo speakers to Spotify instead of the Amazon Prime music service. You can always link your Spotify account to Alexa and set it as the default on mobile and web.

Link Spotify with Alexa

The ability to change the default music streaming service is available on the Alexa mobile app and on the web. But first, you have to link Spotify to Alexa using the iOS or Android app. Amazon offers a similar Alexa app on Android and iPhone. We will be using the Alexa iOS app in the screenshot below. You can follow the same steps on the Android app and link Spotify on your Echo speaker.

Step 1: Download and install the Alexa mobile app on your Android or iPhone. Sign in with your Amazon account.

Step 7: Sign in with your Spotify account details for authorization.

You have successfully linked your Spotify account to Alexa. Now, it’s time to set it as the default option. You can do it through the app or the web.
