Bonus: How to delete photos from WhatsApp groups for everyone
In all the methods mentioned above, the photos are only deleted from your phone and not from other team members. In case you want to delete photos for everyone, you will have to use the unsend feature in WhatsApp — delete for everyone.
You will have to use this feature within an hour of submitting the image to the group. It won’t work for media files older than an hour. Once deleted, it will be deleted from the WhatsApp of every group member. They’ll see “This message has been deleted” instead of the media file. Only the person who shared the media file can delete it. Neither group admins nor other team members can delete media files for others.
To use this feature on Android, long-tap a photo in a group chat. Then press the delete icon and select Delete for everyone.
On iPhone, long-tap the photo and select More, then select Delete.
Then press the delete icon in the lower left corner. Select Delete for everyone.
Keep calm and clean WhatsApp
You should regularly clean WhatsApp media files, especially if you are a member of multiple WhatsApp groups. We also recommend turning off automatic downloads for photos and videos, as illustrated above. That way, you have the power to choose which photos or videos you want to download.
