How to Easily Convert PDF to a Nice Looking Flippable Book for Free

E-books are becoming an increasingly popular medium for displaying information. And if you find yourself regularly browsing through these new e-books, you may notice that it gets pretty dull after a while. First of all, I miss the tangible page-turning of a good novel or guidebook.

That’s why Codebox’s web app — called PDF to Flash Page Flipper (or Flip) — appeals to me. It’s an app that can replicate the more interesting animations found on my iPad or a similar tablet and bring them to my laptop. In fact, it’s almost better, allowing you to turn any old PDF into a flash-based and superior flipable book. The transition is pretty easy, with so many customization options there’s really no need to mess around with it. Overall, it’s a pretty cool app, with the right price….$0.

Begin

Step 1: This PDF converter is web based, so click the link to the official Codebox page (UPDATE: This tool is no longer available) to get started. Near the top of the page there will be a link that says Attach file, go there.

Step 2: Select a PDF file to upload and convert to a flipable book, then scroll down to Appearance Options. Click Start Conversion to…start the conversion.

Step 3: The file conversion will begin, remember that the longer the PDF file, the longer it will take to convert the file. So if it’s long, set it up and walk away for a while.

Step 4: The download will complete, hopefully sooner, and you will be left with a download link. Once you click that, you’ll be set up with a zip file. Unzip the files inside, there are a lot of files in the folder, but the actual flipbook will be the .html file inside.

Step 5: Now all that’s left to do is enjoy your new Flipbook and say goodbye to that sad old PDF by the roadside.

A simple click will also trigger a page-turning animation, the pages being placed side by side like a novel lying flat on a table. Overall, the tool is quite fun and adds some spice to a bland document.
