We talked about parental controls in Windows and web filters in Windows 7 that allow you to restrict access to inappropriate content on the web.
However, if you are using a version of Windows with no parental controls and use Chrome as your default browser, then you can use an extension called BlockIt to block certain websites.
Here’s how to do it.

Install add-ons. Once installed, you won’t find any buttons or options in the extension bar. You have to type chrome://extensions/ in the address bar (check screenshot below). It will show all installed extensions. Go to the BlockIt extension and click on the “Options” button provided next to it.
It will redirect you to the extension’s password page. When you use it for the first time, you don’t need to enter any password (because you don’t have it). Just click the “Sign In” button.
Now enter the names of the websites you want to block. For example, I blocked two of my favorite but time-killing websites – YouTube and Facebook. After entering the URLs, click the “Block” button.
If you want to unblock any website from the list, simply remove the URL and then click the “Block” button again. Your preferences will be saved.
Setting a password is also easy. Scroll down above the fold on the BlockIt options page. You will find an option to change the access password.
In the current password field do not type anything. Enter your new password in the New Password field and confirm it. Click “Change”.
Now, go back to your browser’s address bar and enter the URL of the website you blocked. The page that appears shows the message “Site is blocked by administrator”.
If you want to access the website, click the “Change settings” link and enter your password. It will redirect you to the options page and there you can unblock it.
That’s how you can block any website in Google Chrome. This will also work in Chrome’s incognito mode if you’re using the beta version of the browser.
