We talked about bulk uploading photos to Flickr using Flickr Uploadr. But this tool does not allow you to do the reverse process, i.e. bulk download Flickr photos to your computer. If you need that then you will need a tool called Bulkr.
This tool can back up your entire Flickr photo stream. It gives you an option to download photos in 6 different sizes. It also downloads important photo metadata like titles and tags. You can batch download up to 500 photos with this tool.
This tool runs on the Adobe AIR platform. At first run, you need to connect it to your Flickr account. Here are the steps.
Click the “Connect to Flickr” button.
The authentication with Flickr dialog box appears. Click “Authorize”.
You will immediately be redirected to your Flickr account in the default browser. Sign in with your credentials. Click the “Next” button on the right.
The next screen will show you the rights to Bulkr. Click the “OK, I WILL AUTHORIZATE IT” button.
After clicking the button, return to the application. Click “Complete Authorization”.
Once the authentication is complete, click “Let’s get started!”.
The app shows how many photos you have on your Flickr account. If you want to backup all of them, click the “Back Up Your Photostream” button.
It gives you an option to choose the size of the image. You can choose between thumbnails, small, medium, large and original. Alternatively, you can choose the location of the file to download. Then click the “Start Download” button.
It will take some time to download all the images. It also depends on your internet speed and the number of images to download.
How to download any user’s Flickr photos in bulk
The tool also gives you the option to download images of any Flickr user, as long as those images fall under the general creative category. Click on the Flickr tab provided at the top.
Now click User navigation.
In the given box, you’ll see a random person’s Flickr user stream. Replace username with Flick user’s profile url and click Browse.
It will display all the user’s creative joint images. You can download them by selecting them. Alternatively, you can preview each image by clicking the + icon on the image. Select “All” and click the “Download” button to download all the images on the current page.
This way you can download Flickr photos in bulk. Let us know if you know of any other ways to bulk download photos on Flickr.
