7 Cool Airdroid Features That Make it a Must-Have App

Android doesn’t have a default desktop management app like iTunes for iOS. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not. Looking at what iTunes has become, I’m definitely leaning towards the former.

Android is open and free. There are many ways to sync files between PC and Android. You can even do it natively without any software. But what if you need more than just file transfer? What if you need to manage your entire device? What if you have agoraphobia (why isn’t the rope dead yet?). Then AirDroid is for you. We wrote an AirDroid guide in case you want to check it out.

AirDroid is a web-based device management app for Android. It allows you to connect wirelessly to any PC, just by scanning a QR code. You are then free to transfer files, back them up, and do more.

1. Look Ghost, No Wires! AirDroid: Web-based and wireless

Oh my gosh, do I love wireless AirDroid. You will find a lot of reliable desktop managers for Android, some of which are said to be better than AirDroid (especially when it comes to not draining the battery) but this wireless policy really put AirDroid first.

And connecting AirDroid to PC/Mac is also very easy. In fact, it’s so easy that if you practice it, you can do it every morning when you get to your desk in seconds.

Just open the web address AirDroid provides ( www.web.airdroid.comcan mark easily) and scan the QR code for authentication.

You can also create an account with AirDroid. This allows you to control and transfer content from your phone even if your phone is not on the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. The free plan has a transfer limit of 100MB per month for mobile networks, which you can increase to 1GB by upgrading to AirDroid Premium.

And now your desktop sync solution is ready to go.

2. Send and receive SMS from your computer

MightyText might be a better standalone app for texting from your computer via your Android phone, but it’s also what AirDroid has and if you’re connected to AirDroid then using it for texting won’t either. what harm.

3. Send device notifications to PC

When you start AirDroid on Android for the first time, it will ask you to enable Notification Mirroring. This allows AirDroid to send notifications from your Android device to your PC.

4. Backup and install apps

This is what we mean when we say “device management”. If you’ve downloaded the APK files for an app on your PC, you can use AirDroid to not only transfer them to your phone, but also to install them.

5. Transfer files, photos to and from PC wirelessly

AirDroid exposes your phone’s file management system in a familiar desktop user interface. You’ll find shortcuts to folders like Files, Pictures, Music, etc. on the AirDroid “desktop”.

You will see a tool box in the bottom right corner – simply drag files from your PC’s file browser into the browser window to upload them to your device.

6. Paste Links and Text into Android’s Clipboard

in one tool box you will see a clipboard part. Write anything in there and click arrow button. That text is now copied to your device’s clipboard. Go to your device and paste the text.

Hot Tip: And it goes both ways. Copy something on your Android device and click the . button Quicken icon in tool box and the copied text will show there.

7. Open websites on your phone from AirDroid

Paste any web address into the URL tool box and click arrow button. This will immediately open the page in your Android device’s default browser. This will happen in the background so when you unlock your phone the page will be ready to go.

Bonus: Find Lost Phone (Premium)

If you’re an AirDroid Premium subscriber, you can use the app to track your lost phone or remotely wipe it. While this is certainly a useful feature, you can get similar functionality by using Android’s own free Device Manager app.

How to best use AirDroid

AirDroid was originally a wireless device manager, but recently it has become much more than that. I recommend activating AirDroid on your phone every time you sit at your desk. Yes, it takes a lot of battery, so you’ll have to carry a charger handy.

But the convenience that the app brings is worth it. You’ll get notifications from your device, you’ll be able to send and receive SMS, and copy and paste files and photos, all without ever picking up your phone once.
