4 Ways to Transfer Runs from RunKeeper to Strava

I recently started working. And instead of running on a treadmill, I prefer to be outdoors with open space and a better view. Admittedly I’m not a regular person but thought I was getting there, or so I wanted to tell myself and those who listen to me.

Switch from Runkeeper to Strava

Like others, I did some research and downloaded some apps because I love data-driven progress tracking. After trying Nike Run Club for a while, I decided to try RunKeeper and Strava and found the Strava to be a better choice. So I found some apps that can switch runs from RunKeeper to Strava.

If you’ve been using RunKeeper for a while, you’ll have quite a few achievements to show off. So, when you try Strava, you won’t want to leave all that hard work behind. After all, you sweat it. One of the apps below will help you transfer data easily and in just a few minutes.

Let’s get started.

Prerequisites

If you’re using the app, you’ll need the RunKeeper and Strava passwords. Most people use their social media accounts like Google or Facebook to sign up, but data transfer apps need a password to connect to the server and your Google account password won’t work. Open RunKeeper on your mobile or desktop, click Sign In and select Forgot Password to receive the email. Reset your password using the link in that message.

Repeat the same process for Strava. Note these passwords somewhere convenient and move on to the next point.

1. Direct export

Strava and RunKeeper have import and export options that you can use to create a zip file. Note that you can only import up to 25 runs in Strava at once using this method. If you have significantly more runs, visit the app below.

To start exporting directly, open RunKeeper in your browser and select Account Settings below the Settings icon.

Select Export Data from the menu on the left and you will find two options. You must select the first date (Export Active Date) and enter a date range to download the required file.

Once you have selected a date range and clicked Export Data, a new Download button will appear. You know what to do now.

Log in to your Strava account and select Upload Activity below the ‘+’ menu icon.

Select the File option from the left menu here. Now extract the folder you downloaded earlier from RunKeeper and upload the .GPX files here.

Since each running app behaves differently, you’ll see an option to edit runs before Strava adds them to your account. Among the parameters are name, description, running type, shoe name and privacy control.

Check your data on the Strava app now. In my case all runs were imported correctly and no errors were found.

2. Sync my route

While the direct method works, the 25 runs per upload limit is very annoying. Sync My Tracks is an Android app of two types. The free version will allow you to transfer 40 runs from RunKeeper to Strava while the paid version removes this limitation and allows the transfer of other metrics while keeping all data synchronized across multiple applications .

To get started, open the app and select RunKeeper from the drop-down menu. Enter your login details and repeat the same process for Strava.

The data transferred from RunKeeper to Strava is correct with no errors.

I compared a few runs and found them to be accurate. The pro version will cost you $3.49 and remove ads, transfer limits, and let you choose activities based on the day.

3. Sync Tapiriik

Tapiriik is another Android app for passing runs. Open Tapiriik Sync and tap RunKeeper first to log in. Unlike some other apps, you don’t need a password, you can use your social media account to log in.

Repeat the same process for Strava now and log in to your account. If social login doesn’t work, as some users have shared, you can always use ID and password.

Now tap on the Sync button to start the process. You should now see the icon move in a circle. Like Sync My Route, Tapiriik Sync lets you sync your runs with multiple running apps. Again, the integrity of the transmitted data is maintained.

The app is free to use and has no ads, and they also have a web app that you can use in your browser.

4. RunGap

The last app on the list is for iOS users. RunGap works with up to 25 running apps and works perfectly if not more. You know the process now. Open the app and select Accounts and Settings from the menu.

Select RunKeeper from the list and log in with your ID and password. Now do the same with Strava.

Importing and syncing started immediately and the app was so quick it was done before I could take a screenshot. Either that, or I wasn’t paying attention. You can find all your activities in RunGap under the Activity tab.

RunGap is free to use, has no ads, and works great. You can also view your runs right inside RunGap, but that’s not all. RunGap allows you to edit data if there are inaccuracies and export it to email and Dropbox for free.

Run Lola Run

Running is an incredible exercise. If you’re using Strava to record your running and cycling sessions and want to get rid of RunKeeper, one of the methods above will definitely get the job done. These apps are also great for keeping run logs in sync, if that’s what you want.
