With just a few clicks, you can enhance the aesthetics of your desktop and make the taskbar transparent in Windows 11 easily.

1. Get transparent taskbar with Windows settings
There are two ways you can get transparency effects on Windows 11 – through personalization settings and accessibility settings. We will explain both methods step by step. Let’s start with Personalization Settings.
A. Via Windows Personalization Settings
Step 1: Press the Windows key on your keyboard, type Settingand then click Open.
Step 2: In the Settings Window, click Personalization from the left pane.
Step 3: In the Personalization section, scroll down and click on Colors.
Step 4: Finally, enable the Transparency Effect button to activate the effect.
That’s it. You have successfully enabled the transparency effect on your Windows 11 machine. Note that you can choose your desired accent color to match your background image, but the transparency effect may be affected.
B. Using the Visual Effects Options
Step 1: Press the Windows key on your keyboard, type Settingand then click Open.
Step 2: In the Settings Window, click Accessibility from the left pane.
Step 3: In Accessibility, click Visual Effects.
Step 4: Finally, enable the Transparency Effect button to activate the effect.

2. Use Registry Settings for Hidden Taskbar
Like the Windows Settings method, we have two separate methods in the Registry settings to enable transparency effects. However, this method is not as simple as the methods mentioned above, but if you follow the right steps, you can achieve a transparent effect on your PC.
However, we strongly recommend that you back up the Windows Registry before performing the steps below.
A. Modify ForceEffectMode
Step 1: Press the Windows key on your keyboard, type Registry Editorand click ‘Run as administrator.’
Note: Press ‘Windows Key + R’ to open Run dialog, type regedit.exeand then click OK to open Registry Editor.
In the prompt, select Yes.
Step 2: In the top address bar, enter the address in question.

Note: You can also navigate to this section manually.
Step 3: In the DWM folder, right click, select New and select ‘DWORD (32-bit) Value.’
Step 4: Name the new DWORD Value to ForceEffectMode by double clicking on it.
Step 5: Double-click the new value, enter 1 in the Value data field, and press OK.
Finally, reboot the system for the changes to take effect. And that’s it! When the system reboots, the transparency effect will be enabled.

B. Through OLED taskbar transparency
Step 1: Press the Windows key on your keyboard, type Registry Editorand click ‘Run as administrator.’
Note: Press ‘Windows Key + R’ to open Run dialog, type regedit.exeand then click OK to open Registry Editor.
In the prompt, select Yes.
Step 2: In the top address bar, enter the address in question.

Step 3: In the Advanced folder, right click, select New and select ‘DWORD (32-bit) Value.’
Step 4: Name the new DWORD Value to UseOLEDTaskbarTransparency by double clicking on it.
Step 5: Double-click the new value, enter 1 in the Value data field, and press OK.
Finally, reboot the system to make the changes and enable transparency on your Windows machine. If these methods are complicated to implement, take the easy route and use third-party apps; read on.

3. Enable transparency with third-party apps
Many third-party tools are available such as TranslucentTB, Microsoft TaskbarX, TaskbarTools and Classic Shell. For the demonstration, we will use the TranslucentTB application to achieve the transparency effect. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Press the Windows key on your keyboard, type Shopand then click Open.
Step 2: Once in the Microsoft Store, click the Search bar, type Translucent TBand from the list of suggestions, click TranslucentTB.
Step 4: On the application screen, click the Get button to download and install the application on your Windows machine.
Step 5: Once installed, click the Open button to launch the TranslucentTB application.
Step 6: In the welcome screen, read the details and click Continue.
Note: After enabling the application, you can access the application from the system tray.
Step 7: Right-click the TranslucentTB application in the system tray.
Step 8: Go to the Desktop option from the menu and select Clear from the submenu.
