Even with all the user controls available on Chrome, there is still no simple way to automatically refresh pages in Chrome. However, you can use specific Chrome extensions, third-party websites, and even scripts to try and work around this. Let’s have a brief look at it all.
1. Automatically reload web pages with extensions
While there are no native controls available to make Chrome automatically reload web pages, you can add the AutoRefresh extension easily to Chrome and get the job done for all specific pages or tabs.
Please note that this extension is set for individual tabs, so you must set a timer for each Chrome tab separately. Follow the steps below to do that.
Step 1: Go to Search and type Chrome browser. Open Google Chrome from the search results.
Step 2: Now use the link below to open the Chrome Web Store in a new tab.
Step 3: Go to the search bar and type Easy auto-refreshand press enter.
Step 4: Here, click on the “Easy Auto Refresh” extension.
Step 5: Click ‘Add to Chrome’.
Step 6: Then, click ‘Add extension’.
Step 7: Open the relevant website on Chrome. Now go to the menu bar and click on the Extensions icon.
Step 8: From this list, click on the ‘Easy Auto-refresh’ extension.
Tip: You can also pin this extension in Chrome.
Step 9: Now set the auto-refresh time. Please note the time will be in seconds, like 5 seconds, 12 seconds, etc.
Step 10: Once done, click Start.
Now you will see a countdown timer on the extension post this extension will automatically refresh the Chrome tab. Plus, if you’re signed in to the extension, you can use additional controls like setting a random refresh interval or refreshing all Chrome tabs at once.
Note: To prevent Chrome from automatically refreshing the page, open the ‘Easy Auto-refresh’ extension and click Stop.
This will prevent Chrome from automatically refreshing the pages for this particular tab. You can also use extensions like Auto-Refresh and Auto-Refresh to refresh Chrome tabs.
2. Use Websites to Automatically Refresh Chrome Tabs
If you don’t want to add add-ons but still want to set the page to auto-refresh in Chrome, you can use the Page Refresh website and set the auto-refresh duration. This will allow you to automatically refresh Chrome tabs by entering the relevant page URL into the web page. This is the way.
Step 1: Open Chrome and visit the Page Refresher website using the link below.
Step 2: In the box, type or copy-paste the website URL that you want to auto-refresh.
Step 3: Set the auto-refresh duration.
Step 4: Once done, click the Start/Stop button.
This will open the target website in a new window. On the Page Refresh website, a timer will start and when it reaches zero, the page will automatically refresh.
Step 5: To prevent the page from auto-refreshing, click the Start/Stop button.
However, this will only refresh one site at a time. If you want to refresh multiple web pages, scroll down and click ‘Open New Tab’.
This will open the Page Refresher website in a new tab. Then follow the steps above and add the website and timer for each new tab.
3. Enable Auto-Refresh in Chrome with Scripts
Another way to enable auto-refresh in Chrome is to use JavaScript code. This way you won’t have to depend on any third party apps or websites. It might not always work as expected though, with a high chance of the script crashing in the next Chrome update. However, if you want to try it out, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open Chrome and go to the website that you want to automatically refresh.
Step 2: Then, open the second tab and use the keyboard shortcut Control + Shift + I to open the Developer Tools.
Step 3: Now go to Control Panel and paste the following code. Replace your Win1 and details page with your target page.

Step 4: Then press enter.
After the code is executed, the website will automatically refresh every 10 minutes. If you want to prevent this from happening, close both tabs or restart Chrome.
