Set Default Orientation of Apps on Android With Smart Rotator

Auto-rotate is an Android feature that toggles the state of your screen between portrait and landscape depending on your device’s orientation using the accelerometer. I always turn this off because it tends to be more annoying than helpful. Sometimes it’s fixed in a particular mode and you need to push it out of that position by shaking the phone.

However, there are apps like the browser and TeamViewer that I always want to open in landscape mode, and Smart Rotator is the one that helps me do the job. Using this app you can choose the orientation for each app installed on your device. So let’s see how it’s done.

Smart Rotator for Android 4

Download and install Smart Rotator on your Android device. Smart Rotator works on all devices running Android 1.6 and above. After you launch the program, it will upload a list of all installed apps along with the default screen orientation i.e. portrait.

Now just long select the app you want to manually set the orientation and choose the auto rotate options. Auto mode will leave the app’s orientation fate to the device’s accelerometer while portrait and landscape modes will override the accelerometer’s orientation and fix the selected value for the specific application.

You can set orientation options for each app using a wizard. If you want things to stay as they are, open the Smart Rotator settings from the menu and remove the check mark for Turn on Smart Rotator.

That is all. Try the app and share your opinion about it. Know an app with similar features? Don’t forget to mention it in the comments.
