Yesterday, while installing a new custom ROM on my HTC One X, I made a big mistake. For those who haven’t installed any custom ROMs on the One X, here’s a bit of information: There are two files that need to be flashed during ROM installation. One is that the ROM itself will be copied to the internal SD card and flashed using ClockworkMod (CWM) Touch recovery, and another is the Boot.img file that needs to be flashed in the bootloader using Fastboot commands.
The mistake I made was that I forgot to copy the ROM flashable zip file and flash the boot.img file with Recovery and by the time I realized it was too late and my phone was in boot loop.
So see how I solved the boot loop problem, but before we continue, always remember that even if your phone is in boot loop, you can always boot at bootloader mode by holding both power and volume down keys simultaneously until you see the recovery screen.
Clear cache
The first thing you can try to get out of the boot loop is to clear the cache of your phone. To do so, you need to boot into your phone’s bootloader first and connect a USB cable to the phone. Now open the command prompt in admin mode and navigate to the folder containing the Fastboot files and write the command fastboot clear cache and press enter. After the command is executed successfully, type in reboot fastboot-bootloader and try to restart your phone.
Always keep the last working ROM on mobile
This is very important. Since the temporary CWM recovery installed on most rooted HTC One X cannot mount the internal memory in the computer, you should keep the last working custom ROM on the SD card along with the boot.img file on your computer. me. Once your phone boot loop you can always flash the ROM and fix the problem.
Restore Nandroid Backup
I always insist on making a Nandroid backup before installing a new ROM on the phone. If something goes wrong, you can restore a Nandroid backup to get rid of the boot loop.
Repair broken CWM
I don’t know if that’s normal but while restoring the backup I messed up the ClockworkMod recovery of the phone. A working CWM restore is very important to restore the phone to working condition. To restore to CWM recovery, reboot your phone in bootloader and connect it to your computer.
Download and extract the HTC One X toolkit on your computer and run the batch file it contains. Flash temporary recovery option 5.8.3.1. Once your restore is restored, you can restore the Nandroid backup.
