In the previous sections we explained how to hack your PS Vita to run TN-V, a PSP emulator firmware that allows to play backups of your PSP games, install emulators for boards This time we will show you how to install and run a PS1 emulator that provides perfect emulation for most PS1 titles.
Important Note: To use the PS1 emulator on PS Vita, you need to backup the game in the form of an EBOOT file (you can search it on Google). Please note, however, that these and any other emulators currently available exist so that game owners can play backup copies of the games they own, and it is not recommended to violate them. piracy, this is illegal.
If you have a hacked PS Vita, you may be wondering why you need this emulator in the first place, as the PSP emulator provided in TN-V also allows you to run PS1 games.
Well, the reason is quite simple. This PSP emulator is based on the original PSP software and as such carries the same limitations as that software did when it comes to PS1 games. As a result, the original PSP emulator doesn’t support some games, and many of the games it does support don’t fully support it. Some PS1 games lack proper sound or have no sound at all, you can’t take screenshots of your PS1 games along with other issues.
That’s where the TN-X comes into play.
What is TN-X?
This 3rd party PS1 emulator provides perfect emulation of original Playstation games, including flawless sound, the ability to take screenshots of your PS1 games, as well as support for several The game is not available via the Playstation Network Store (PSN).

Let’s see how you can install TN-X on your hacked PS Vita.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Hacked PS Vita can run TN-V which is on OFW (official firmware) 3.18 and below
- qCMA – an application to transfer data between your computer and PS Vita without an internet connection (available for both Mac and Windows)
- A ‘mineable’ PS1 game. There are three of these: Sports Superbike 2, Tekken 2, and XS Moto. For this tutorial we will be using the XS Moto. You need to buy this PS1 game on your account and install it on your hacked PS Vita
- TN-X mining archive file: Download link
- Backup your PS1 games
If you meet all of the above requirements, go to your computer to get started.
On your computer
Important Note: Although this guide was created on a Mac, the instructions still apply if you have a Windows PC.
Step 1: Make sure you download all the files mentioned above. If you have a hacked PS Vita, then you must have qCMA. So the only file you should download is TN-X.
Step 2: Let’s start by extracting the exploit file to access its contents, which should look like below image: readme file, TNV special exploit and save file for three possible PS1 games run this emulator.
Since I have an XS Moto game, I’ll be using the save files for that game (shown below).
Step 3: As with previous hacks, to install the TN-X PS1 emulator for your PS Vita you need to ‘seed’ your XS Moto (or other game you are using) save the data file to the game play. This is the file you just downloaded.
So on your computer, go to where all the save files for your PS1 games are located. It will look like the screen shown below. Open that folder and leave it open.
Now, in the folder containing the TN-X exploit, find your PS1 game folder and open it to find its save file. In this example, the save file for the XS Moto is a file named ‘SLUS01506’. Click on that file and copy it to the folder you opened earlier, where all the save files are.
After you do that, go back one level above the TN-X folder you downloaded and also copy the TNV folder there to where you copied the folder before.
Finally, the folder containing all the files saved on your computer will contain these two new folders, as shown below.
Now, you have to access your PS Vita through the qCMA app, so go to your PS Vita to transfer the files.
On your PS Vita
Step 4: Before starting the qCMA application, plug your PS Vita into the computer with a USB cable, then start the application.
Step 5: Then on your PS Vita open Content managementselect Copy content and then select PC > PS Vita System.
Next, choose Applications and on the next screen, below Saved data select PlayStation.
If you did it right, you should now see the save file for the XS Moto there. Select it and then Copy it to your device.
Likewise, go back one level and now under Saved data select PSP/Other.
There you will see a new save file named ‘TN-V Launcher’. Select that file and Copy it on your device as well.
How to use PS1 Emulator
Important Note: Before using the TN-X PS1 emulator, you need to have the games for this emulator on your PS Vita. To transfer your PS1 game backup to Vita, follow this guide and use FTP to do so. Just make sure you transfer your PS1 eBook files to PSP/Game/ folder in your Vita.
Step 6: Now that you’ve finished copying the files, exit the Content Manager on your Vita and start your game (XS Moto in this example).
When it starts, go to Optionselect Download game and then select Single or 2 Player Race.
To enable mining on two other games:
- Tekken 2: Start the game in Survival mode and lose match.
- Super sports car 2: Download the save file via Option and then start the 2 player race.
Once the exploit activates, you will be running a PS1 emulator on your PS Vita.
And thanks to all the improvements it boasts, you will now enjoy features like screenshots, perfect audio, etc.
Enjoy!
