How to Set Up API on Janitor AI

Janitor AI is a chatbot service where you can talk to different characters.

They include female, male, anime, and game characters.

The service allows NSFW content and your chats are private by default.

To start chatting, you need to connect to an existing API.

You can either use JanitorLLM Beta, OpenAI, or Kobold AI.

In this quick guide, you’ll learn how to use or set up an API key/link on Janitor AI with Kobold AI or OpenAI for free.

How to set up API on Janitor AI

To set up API on Janitor AI, you need to sign up for it and get a KoboldAI API link from Kobol Google Colab.

After you’ve got the link, paste it into the API settings and you can start chatting with the bot.

Editor’s note: I tested this guide out myself before writing it and it worked perfectly.

Step 1: Sign up for Janitor AI

1. Go to https://janitorai.com/.
2. Click on “Register”.
3. Register by email, Twitter, or Discord.

Step 2: Sign up for Janitor AI

1. Select a bot that you want to chat with (e.g. Quinn).
2. Select the “Chat with x” button to chat with the bot.

Step 3: Get a KoboldAI API URL

1. Go to https://colab.research.google.com/github/koboldai/KoboldAI-Client/blob/main/colab/GPU.ipynb or search for “Kobol Google Colab” on Google and visit the GPU search result.
2. If you’re on mobile, tap on the play button under “<– Tap this if you play on Mobile” and play the audio (skip this step if you’re on desktop).
3. Edit the “<– Select your model below and then click this to start KoboldAI” section to this:
   • Model: Janeway 6B
   • Revision:
   • Version: United
   • use_google_drive: Untick
4. Click on the run button to start KoboldAI (this will take approximately 10 minutes to complete).
5. When completed, you’ll see a “Loading model tensors: 100%” message and 4 different links.
6. Highlight and copy the API link (e.g. https://x-x-x-x.trycloudflare.com/api).

Step 4: Setup the API

1. Select the menu icon and select “API Settings”.
2. Select “Kobold AI” and paste the Kobold API link from the previous step.
3. Click on the “Check Kobold API” button.
4. Click on the “Save Settings” button.
5. Select “Yes” to set the generation settings to Kobold’s default.
6. Start chatting with the bot!

Tip: If you encounter a “max_length” error, click on the menu icon > Generation Settings > Max new tokens > 500 > Save settings.
