How to Open Multiple Links at Once in Firefox and Chrome

Let’s say you find a web page with too many links and you want to open some of them in new tabs. The time consuming way is to click them one by one to open them. But since we believe in making our readers smart and productive, we’ll tell you a better way to do it.

We’re going to talk about some extensions that Firefox and Chrome users can use to open multiple links at once (sorry Internet Explorer users).

How to open multiple links at once in Firefox

In Firefox, there are two main add-ons for this purpose – Snaplinks and Multilink. Here is the process of using them.

Quick link

Snaplinks for Firefox is a useful addon that allows you to open multiple links at once. You can also copy links to clipboard or bookmark them.

1. Download and install this extension. Restart your browser.

2. Now go to any web page and select the area containing many links by dragging the mouse pointer with the right button. This will bring up a rectangle with a green border. The links inside this green rectangle are marked with a red outline.

When you leave the mouse button, all the links will open in a new tab. Below is a screenshot of my Twitter stream. Check out the red rectangles, these are the links already included in the selected area.

The user can move the selection by holding the Alt key while moving the mouse. The Esc key cancels the selection.

Note: This extension is also available as a Google Chrome extension.

Multilink is more advanced than Snaplinks because it comes with some extra features. The process of selecting links is the same as we did in Snaplinks, i.e. by holding down the right mouse button and drawing a rectangle around the links.

If you want to cancel the selection, just press the esc key on your keyboard or press the left mouse button.

You can go to Tools->Addons->Multilink to open the options panel. Here you can tweak with many settings. You can customize the look of Multilink by choosing color, link color, box style, border style, etc.

We mentioned that Snaplinks are available for the Google Chrome browser. Another useful extension that opens multiple links in Chrome is Linky.

Link Extensions

The Linky Extension is a simple and easy to use add-on for Chrome. To use it, download and install it on your browser. A small link icon will appear on the extension bar.

Now go to any page. Highlight the area containing the links with the help of the left mouse button.

Now click on the link icon present on the extension bar.

All links will open in a new chrome tab.

That’s how you can open multiple links at the same time on Firefox and Google Chrome. Do you know of any other tools that do the process efficiently? Mention them in the comments. Also we would also like to know if there is a way to do that in internet explorer.
