How to Make Your Windows PC Auto Login in 3 Steps

It is generally known that the boot times of Windows PCs are significantly higher than their OS X based counterparts. There were even whole programs created to speed up the booting process. But the program is not what I am writing today. Today, I just wanted to share a great tweak that can shorten the time between pressing the power button and actually getting some work done.

Tweak to bypass the login screen at startup that was previously an inevitable part of Windows. If you only use your computer for personal use in the house, there’s really no need for password protection and it just serves as one more stop on the long road to your desktop. Keep reading to know how to remove that pesky login screen in just 3 quick steps.

Clear login screen

Note: The following tweak will work on Windows 7, Vista and XP.

Step 1: You will need to access the Advanced User Accounts section of the Control Panel to enable automatic login. To do this, simply type netplwiz into the search box in your start menu. Press enter and the following screen will pop up.

Step 2: As shown above, uncheck the box next to “Users must enter a username and password to use this computer” and click Apply.

Step 3: Then a window (shown below) will pop up asking for your current username and password. Fill it with the appropriate information and click OK.

That’s it! You finished, you survived, you made it. Congratulations! Now be amazed to see your computer skip the login screen on your next boot.
