YouTube, the world’s largest online video portal, has now launched a music streaming service for Android and iOS. However, like most services, it is limited to US users only. Having said that, it’s frustrating when you pick up the phone to download and try a brand new service only to find that your country isn’t on the allowed list.
But those kinds of restrictions have never stopped Guid Tech readers. We’ve shown before how you can download Spotify and try it outside the US and UK, and today we’re doing the same for YouTube music. Root is optional and everyone is invited to the party. All you need to do is follow the steps.

Step 1: Download and install YouTube Music APK
Now, since the app will only show up on the Play Store if you’re in the US, we have to get it from third-party sources. Naturally, we chose APK mirror to download and download the YouTube Music APK.
If this is your first time downloading any APK files, you will have to activate Download from unknown source in the settings section.
Once the application is installed, you do not need to launch it. You should be able to sign in but just get an error that the service isn’t available in your country and use YouTube instead. That brings us to the next step.
Step 2: Change Region to US for YouTube Music
Now we’ll have to fool the YouTube music app into thinking you’re browsing from the US, and FlashVPN will help us here. So download and install FlashVPN Proxy service from Play Store to continue.
Note: There are many VPN services available on the Play Store and you are free to choose any of them. The reason I choose FlashVPN is because it’s free without any data limits and only offers a few ads from time to time.
Once FlashVPN is installed, launch it and choose the free version. The free version has no limitations, but the app has ads. The premium version is called RocketVPN and can be purchased for US $4.99. In the app, select United States as the server and then create a VPN connection.
After doing that, FlashVPN will ask you for permission to allow the VPN connection and then wait for the connection to be established. Now go ahead and launch the YouTube Music App and wait for it to load. If all goes well, you should see the YouTube Music Layout.
Note: If you continue to get the error on the YouTube Music App, clear the error from memory and relaunch it.
When you sign in to the app, you’ll also get a 14-day free trial of YouTube Red that enhances your YouTube Music experience. You’ll need to run FlashVPN in the background while you’re listening to music on YouTube, but since it’s a free service that shouldn’t be a big deal.
