We are bound to forget everything. It could be our parents’ anniversary or a project deadline. Facebook certainly helps us remember birthdays – but not much else. If you are a forgetful person or you tend to miss deadlines due to heavy workload, it is best to schedule messages in advance, especially emails.

Read on to learn the best ways to do this on Android.

scheme

Schema – the only scheduling app to rule them all. With it, you can schedule SMS, Facebook and Twitter status updates, and even send emails, all from one handy interface. To get started, you need to sign in to Twitter, Facebook, and Gmail to give the app the necessary permissions. This is all done through the web UI so the app doesn’t have access to any of your passwords. You can revoke access any time you want.

The main screen of the application shows the current scheduled messages. Touch Message in the top right to create a message. Here you will find checkmarks for SMS, Facebook, Twitter and Gmail. Select as many as you want to use.

Enter a phone number for SMS and an email address for Gmail to get started. Then comes the actual message section. Select the time and date, tap send and that’s it – the post is scheduled.

From the main screen, you can view posts, cancel or edit them. In my testing, the app works fine (but doesn’t work with Facebook for some reason). It’s fast and accurate when it comes to emailing.

Remember that Schemes does not save your data on a server somewhere in the mean time. It’s all saved on your device and sent out at the appropriate time. That means if your phone is not turned on or not connected to the internet at certain times, your messages will not be delivered.

The app also has a pro version that allows you to repeat your messages. This is useful in case you want to send birthday greetings to your friends every year or want to send an automatic email reminder of when your rent or any other bill is due.

Boomerang for Gmail and Exchange

Boomerang is one of the big names in the world of scheduled email. It has extensions for all major desktop browsers and is very well integrated with the Gmail website. All those traits are ported to Android in a great way.

Boomerang is not just a shell app like Schemes, it can qualify as an email client. With this app you can read emails, reply, archive and more. The most important part is Compose email screen. When you are composing an email, you will receive a Send later side option Send.

And unlike Schemes, your email processing happens on the server side. So even if your phone is not connected to the internet when it’s time to send your message, your message will still be delivered. As long as you complete the scheduling process in the app, you’re good to go.

Like I said, boomerangs don’t just provide scheduling features. It prompts you to reply to unanswered emails, it can help you manage your inbox, and it also supports Exchange email, which Schemes doesn’t.

If you’re looking for an easy way to schedule emails on your Android phone, use Boomerang. Scheme is best for SMS and Twitter.
