, has brought a fresh, modern look to iOS devices. However, in the case of the iPhone, if you have an iPhone model older than the iPhone 5, you may have noticed that iOS 7 doesn’t run as smoothly as it does on Apple’s most recent smartphones.
Now, while this is to be expected, there are ways you can improve the performance of iOS 7 on iPhone 4S and older devices.

There is some free space on your iPhone
One aspect that is both a blessing and a curse to smartphones is that you can get apps, songs, movies, and other content right from your smartphone. On an iPhone, this means you can run out of space pretty soon, especially if you use it to watch videos or if you take a lot of photos.
To see how much space you have on your iPhone, just visit Settings > General > Usage. Even better, you’ll be able to free up space by deleting apps and content right from that screen. As a personal rule, I always like to have at least 20% of the storage on my iPhone free so as not to overwhelm the system.
Remove unnecessary features
Targeted primarily for newer devices, iOS 7 packs in some neat features like background processing and dynamic backgrounds. These are fun and useful in some cases, but they also affect the performance of iOS 7, especially on older devices. On top of that, most users can certainly live without them.

Turn off blur/transparency effect
Do you like the translucent/transparent background of Notification Center and Control Center? It’s certainly cool to see, but they’re also completely unnecessary. Worse yet, since the iPhone 4 and 4S are older, less powerful models, their graphics processors can’t really render the effects properly.
So instead of wasting performance on those effects, why not turn them off completely? To do that, on your iPhone or other iOS device, go to Settings > General. There search accessibility options and on the next screen, below VISION knock on increase contrast.
Once there, switch Increase Contrast with ABOVE.
With this change, Notification Center will display a flat dark background, while Control Center will display a clear background. Both are easier on the eyes and less costly when it comes to processing power.
