If you have a Comcast Xfinity set-top box that is disconnected or not working, there are a few steps you can take to fix the problem. First, make sure it’s not a specific hardware problem on your end – for example, the power cord isn’t plugged in or the HDMI isn’t connected.

When everything seems to be fully connected, it’s time for trial and error. Whether your TV screen is completely blank, stuck on connecting or loading screen, or showing an error code, at least one of the options below should be able to fix the problem.
Restart the box
Try to quickly restart the specific set-top box that is causing you problems. All you need to do is reach into the back of the box to unplug the power cord and turn it off. Wait at least 10 seconds and then plug the power cord back into the box. Make sure your TV is still on and wait a few minutes for the set-top box to restart.
Note:
Use Comcast’s My Account App for Troubleshooting
For a company that people really hate, Comcast really has a great mobile app. The My Account app has some troubleshooting features that can even repair the set-top box remotely, without talking to a support assistant or requiring any work on your part. .
If you’ve already set up an online account with Comcast, try downloading the free My Account app for iOS or Android. Choose the set-top box in your home that is giving you trouble. Then, choose one of the different solution options.
Select Resovle problem to answer some questions about the problem and ask Comcast to try to solve it for you online.
Select Reboot the device to reboot the device remotely. (You could have done this if you unplugged the box and plugged it back in.)

We’ve written a pretty thorough guide to the steps you can take through Comcast’s My Account app to resolve more general issues than this. Take a look there for more details.
Call support and request a signal refresh
Comcast’s customer service number is 1–800-XFINITY or 1–800–934–6489. Call them for help, but here are some important details you need to know.
Help is a call away | shutter
First, have some information ready to verify your identity. The support assistant will likely ask you for your full name, the phone number associated with your Comcast account, and the last four digits of the primary account holder’s social security number.
Second, Comcast reps can often spend their sweet time on the phone running through all possible scenarios. Let me save you time. If there is an RDK error code on your TV screen, read it to them right away. If the error message clearly states that your digital receiver isn’t working (and you know you’re still paying for it), simply request it immediately to renew the signal for that receiver. . This should fix the problem, although you will have to provide the serial number located on the back.
Request a new box
If all else fails, the set-top box’s life is probably over. While you chat with support — 1–800–934–6489 — simply request a new digital set-top box.
As long as you’re paying for Comcast services and the rep on the phone believes it’s a technical fault, they should have no problem sending you a new box for free. However, this is the slowest way to fix your problem as it can take days or weeks to arrive.
Good luck.
