FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) is a great Firefox browser add-on that allows you to quickly and easily backup all Firefox extensions, bookmarks, themes, cookies, preferences, usernames and passwords.
This extension creates a backup file at a specified location on your computer and you can restore your Firefox configuration with the help of that file. You can even automatically upload that file online to your Box.net account and access it anywhere you have internet access.
Backup Firefox Profiles with FEBE
Once you have the extension installed, go to Tools > FEBE > FEBE Options as shown in the screenshot below.
In the options tab you will find different options.

If you only want to backup selective features then select this option. Assuming you only want to backup add-ons then check the box next to Backup utility select. Similarly, you can only backup bookmarks, usernames or passwords. It completely depends on you.
Backup all records
You can choose this option to back up your entire profile. It backs up all your browser settings, add-ons, and preferences at once.
Now in FEBE preferences go to Category navigation. Browse for the folder where you want to store your backup.
Upload to Box.net
You can also upload your backups to box.net, a feature recently introduced in FEBE. Open Box.net in FEBE preferences and enter your box.net credentials (you can sign up for a free account there). The main advantage of using box.net upload is that you can get your Firefox preferences on whatever computer you’re using, as long as that computer can connect to the internet.
After selecting an appropriate option, go to Tools > Perform Backup to perform a quick backup.
FEBE will perform the backup process.
Restore Firefox configuration with FEBE
Let’s say you’ve formatted your PC or you’re using another computer. You can restore your Firefox profile using profileFx{default}.fbu backup file.
Here are the steps to do that.
Install the FEBE extension on Firefox. Now go to Tools > FEBE > Restore Profile.
Here you can create a new profile to restore your profile. Click Create a new profile button.
Enter a new profile name and click Create button.
Select a profile you just created and click “Select local backup to restore” button.
Choose a location on your computer where you put your backup (profileFx3{default}.fbu) document
Click Start restoring profile button.
Your profile will be restored. Now restart Firefox. It will ask you to choose a user profile. Select the recovered profile (Himanshu in this case).
This way you can use FEBE to backup and restore your Firefox configuration. It’s incredibly useful, and we highly recommend it if you use Firefox as your primary browser.
