Google Docs supports add-ons in the web version and the Android app. Unfortunately, the add-on is not available for iOS users. If you use Google Docs on the web or Android version, here’s how you can install, use, and manage add-ons in Google Docs.
How to install add-ons in Google Docs
Whether you’re using Google Docs on your computer or phone, installing the add-on is pretty straightforward. Here’s how you do it.
On the Web
Step 1: Open your favorite web browser and navigate to the Google Docs document.
Step 2: Click on the Add-ons menu at the top and select Get Widget.
Step 3: In the Google Workspace Marketplace window, you’ll see a list of apps that work with Google Docs. If you already know what you’re looking for, use the search tool at the top to find your add-on.
Step 4: Once found, click on the add-on to see its description and rating.
Step 5: Finally, click Install to download the extension.
Next, follow the onscreen instructions to allow all relevant permissions and install the Google Docs add-on.
On Android
Step 1: Open any document in the Google Docs app on your Android.
Step 2: Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner and select Add-ons.
Step 3: Click Get add-on. This will open a list of apps that work as add-ons in the Google Play Store app.
Step 4: Go to the app you want to use as an add-on and tap on Settings.

How to manage add-ons in Google Docs

Step 1: In the Google Docs document, click Add-ons at the top and select Manage add-ons.
Step 2: You will see a list of installed add-ons in Application Manager.
If you don’t want to use a particular add-on in your current document, click the three-dot menu icon at the top right of the add-on and uncheck Use in this document.
If you no longer want to use the add-on in any of your documents, click the three-dot menu icon and select Uninstall.

On Android
While Google Docs for Android doesn’t currently support a long list of add-ons, you may want to disable or remove add-ons that you don’t need. To do so, you can follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open a document in the Google Docs app. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner and tap Add-ons.
Step 2: Tap Manage add-ons, then use the toggles to enable or disable the add-on.
If you don’t want to use a particular add-on, you can uninstall the app associated with that add-on. To do so, long-press the app and tap the info icon from the menu that appears. On the app info page, tap Uninstall.
