I Photo Features

In the previous sections we discussed some

tips for taking advantage of Apple’s neat iPhoto app

. However, this basic photo manager/editor is packed with some features that we Mac users don’t always know about.

In this section, we explore a few of them that can be useful in some specific situations. First, we learn how to create your own web gallery using iPhoto, which can be used for sharing or hosted on your own website. Then we explore the steps to create a calendar using your iPhoto library.

Start.

Create a photo gallery on the web

Step 1: Group any photos that you want to convert into a collection on iPhoto and then select photos. When you’re done, on the iPhoto menu bar, go to Document and then select Export…

Step 2: Use the dialog box shown to edit your collection before exporting. First, at the top, change the name of your library and the number of rows and columns your library will have. Then select the type of template you want to use (framed is the best option if you ask me) and also choose the background color and font of your upcoming collection.

Step 3: The bottom of the dialog box allows you to customize the gallery thumbnail size and the maximum image size. Both of these settings are extremely useful, especially if your site’s audience still uses the old computer to view the site.

Additionally, you can also select check boxes for any other pieces of information that you want to display on your gallery photos.

Your collection is now ready to upload to your website and you can even preview it in any browser. Even if you don’t have a website and want to use this method to share the library with someone, you can always put this folder in, say, your Dropbox and then create a public link to share. shall.
