How to Add Custom Camera Widget on Samsung Galaxy Phones
This custom Camera widget lets you start the Camera app with specific modes and settings. This lets you launch the Camera app and start recording a photo or video in a jiffy. Here’s how to use it.
Step 1: On the home screen of your Samsung Galaxy phone, long-press and tap on Widgets at the bottom.
Step 2: Scroll down and select Camera.
Step 3: Tap the Custom Camera widget and select Add.
You will now have different options to customize the widget.
To change the name of your widget, tap on Title on Widget, rename the widget, and tap on Save.
You can choose where your photos and videos are saved in the Gallery app by selecting a specific folder, too.
Additionally, you can tap on Widget Background to select the series of images you wish to see as the thumbnails.
Step 4: After selecting your choices, tap on Save at the bottom.
You will see your custom Camera widget on your home screen. Tap on it to start shooting from the Camera app in a specific camera mode.
Edit Camera Widget on Samsung Galaxy Phones
By default, the Camera widget will launch the Rear Camera mode on your Samsung Galaxy phone and shoot photos. But you also have the option to change from the default selection. Here’s how.
Step 1: Long-press the Camera widget icon on your home screen and tap on Settings.
Step 2: Tap on Starting Mode and choose the shooting mode for the Camera app.

Step 1: Long-press the Camera widget on your home screen and tap on Stacks.

1. Force Quit and Relaunch Camera App
You can try to force quit and relaunch the Camera app via the Custom Camera widget. This should fix the issue.
Step 1: Long-press the Custom Camera widget icon and select App Info.
Step 2: Tap on Force Stop at the bottom and select Ok.
Step 3: To check if the widget works now, close the App Info tab and recreate the widget.
2. Update One UI
Since this feature has just rolled out with One UI 6, it might be unstable and require regular updates to function properly. As such, we suggest updating your Samsung Galaxy phone’s One UI 6 version.
Step 1: Open Settings and tap on Software Update.
Step 2: Tap on Download and Install to check for an available update.
