How to Access Favorite Folders with Scroll Wheel of Mouse

We now live in the computer age where we have a mouse with many buttons. They call it a multi-button mouse/gaming mouse. You can configure many of these buttons and program them accordingly based on the software you are using or the game you are playing, thereby improving your work efficiency. However, not everyone has or uses them. The most used mouse is the one you have on hand. Mouse with a roller.

So today I’m going to show you how you can improve your work efficiency by quickly accessing your favorite folders with your mouse’s scroll wheel/middle button.

Your favorite folders at your fingertips

The way to extend the functionality of this middle button is to use Quick Access Pop-ups. With Quick Access Pop-up, you can access your favorite folder with just one middle click. When you middle click on the mouse, a menu will pop up containing all your favorite folders. Well, it’s not just about the directory, there’s a lot more to it. Yes, in Windows 10 we have a quick access panel for our favorite folders in Windows File explorer. But, it has limits. And yes, this freeware supports Windows 10.

With Quick Access Popup, you can launch applications, group your favorite folders and open them all together, access system folders, switch between running applications, get a tray special clipboard for file addresses and easily add file addresses as Command Line arguments. All of that, stored in a middle click. I want to go over some really cool features that you can try out with this app.

Advanced options for your favorite folders

The best thing about this freeware is that every feature is clearly explained. When you add a favorites folder, you get a bunch of advanced options. The first is the menu options.

Qap folder menu option

In the basic settings you have to set your favorites folder. In the menu options, you can choose which folders appear in the menu, and also choose an icon to display on the menu. Next, is the window option.

Qap window position

Here you can choose the state of the Window and its position on the screen. The value you add for the location in pixels. Alternatively, you can delay the t0 window being displayed after a few seconds. the next option is High level select.

Advanced Settings Qap

Here you can choose to open an app instead of a folder. Also you have an option to add the Directory/File address as a command line argument. So when you want the folder address in CMD, middle click and select the folder from the popup menu. The command will be automatically added and the folder will open.

Next, let’s take a look at some of the QAP-only features.

Install Qap feature

QAP features include – switching between applications (similar to Alt+Tab), dedicated clipboard, access to Drives, Shutdown system, and more. As shown in the screenshot above, you can add this feature below My QAP Basics Menu.

Open a folder group

If there are some tasks that require you to open a specific group of folders to complete the task, you can use QAP’s group feature to open multiple folders at once.

Other cool features

There are also some other customizations you can make. You can set your own hotkeys for specific menus and folders. If you use some other file manager then you have support for that too. File manager included – Directory Opus, Total Commander and QAPconnet.

Also, if you maintain an FTP site then you can add options and menu items to it. You can automatically log in to a specific FTP site by adding your credentials to the FTP settings provided by QAP. Alternatively, you can go to specific web address (URL) and open it in your desired browser.

Too many tasks stored in one middle click

That’s just too many features for a lightweight freeware. But, I doubt it will be used often by average or proficient users. Well, that depends on an individual’s requirements. If any of the above meets your requirements then thank the developer and let us know what you think in the comments section.
