How do you share online screenshot or video file or mp3 file..any file from your desktop? Yes, I know, there are definitely a lot of ways. For example you can use Opera Unite to share large files, CloudApp on Mac is one option, for private peer-to-peer sharing we have iSender (or Sendoid as they call it)..there are certainly a few ways.
But how to do it as quickly as possible and also upload it publicly for all to see? I think this app called SimpleShare, working together with Box.net is the solution.
You will need a Box.net account, so go and get one. The free account gives you 5 GB of online storage with a file size limit of 25 MB, so you have nothing to lose.
See how to use this tool to quickly create and share content like screenshots, screen recording videos, etc. on the web.
Install and Set Up SimpleShare
Step 1. Go to the SimpleShare site and download the software. It has versions for both Windows and Mac (sorry Linux guys!).
Step 2. After you download it, run the setup and install it. Same old step. You know what to do already.
Step 3. Once installed, it will ask for your Box.net credentials. As I mentioned earlier, you’ll need a Box.net account for it to work because that’s where your files — which you want to share online — are stored. So get a 5GB free account there and enter the login details.
Step 4. Take a look at the Options tab. Check or uncheck the option as you want. It also shows windows keyboard shortcuts (I’m using a Windows PC) at the bottom to take screenshots and screencast.
When you’re done, click Save and exit it.
Use SimpleShare to create and share images, videos, screen recordings.. All file types
A small box.net icon will appear in your system tray, where you have the system clock and other small icons.
Right-clicking on that icon will give you options like drawing areas, capturing full screen, uploading files, and recording video.
There is also a Share with Box option added to the right-click menu and this option can be used to quickly share any file from your computer.
View your SimpleShare Uploads in Box.net
Remember that uploaded videos are publicly viewable. They can be deleted automatically now if you have that option selected in preferences, but if you want to delete them manually later, you can go to Preferences and click View folder under SimpleShare Uploads.
It will open your Box.net account in a browser tab and display the files you have uploaded.
There is a drop-down menu for each file that provides several options for working on that file.
Overall, it’s definitely a useful file sharing tool that reduces the time it takes to manually upload files to a service and then share them. There is also a URL shortening option that uses goo.gl to shorten the URL of the file preview page after it has been uploaded. You might want to enable that in preferences.
