4 Tips and Tricks to be a Truecaller Pro on Android

Truecaller is the caller ID app you’ve always wanted. The digital goldbook not only contains the numbers and identifying information of millions of users – but is smart about it. Automatically block calls from spammers? Yes, please. Ability to search any number? Never mind if I do.

Truecaller has a lot of features and options. If you are a Truecaller user, learning about the following features will definitely improve your experience.

1. Become an expert at blocking calls

Truecaller scans millions of user phone calls and tracks which phone numbers are blocked. That means Truecaller has a database of spammers.

From Block In the app, you can turn on the option to automatically block common spammers and even phone numbers marked as “Unknown”.

Below you will see the option to automatically reject the call or just mute the ringer.

One feature I really like is the floating action button for manually blocking calls. From here, you’ll see options to enter a phone number or select a recent call or from a recent contact.

Use number sequenceyou can block calls from any country by adding ISD code.

Truecaller + Turedialer: I’m not a big fan of Lollipop’s built-in Phone app. I recently replaced it with Truedialer and I’m really happy with it. Truecaller and Truedialer go together very well. Also, if you want to dig deep into Truedialer, check out Ashish’s review.

2. Discover contacts you may know

Like Facebook and Twitter, Truecaller has a Discover navigation. This is filled in automatically – based on your location, who is in your contact book and more. Truecaller is really good at creating relationships between contacts. So if some of my friends are in a person’s contact book, it’s possible that I know them.

When you come across a contact whose details are not public, Truecaller even displays a map of your mutual friends and who can refer you to that contact.

3. Identify the phone number

When you open the app, you’ll see a search tab at the top. Just enter the number you want to identify. But you can do more. You can enter the address and also select the country.

The search field accepts both phone numbers and names. When you find the person you’re looking for, tap to see details.

Also, Truecaller comes with automatic search option. Here is how it works. You are browsing the web or you come across a phone number. Just highlight the phone number, copy it and a floating window with information about the number will show up.

4. Set up your own Truecaller profile

If you’re the type to call multiple people, it can help you get your info on display on other people’s screens. If your profile has your photo, your full name and what you do right on the splash screen, the chances of someone picking up your call are much higher. It will also help if you are verified on Truecaller (which is easy to do).

So start by adding your email address, website, and profile picture. You can also add a description of yourself from About column.

On the contrary, if you are the type of person who does not want your personal information to be exposed, Truecaller will give you the option to hide it all.

Go Setting -> Privacy and in Allow select Just request instead of Public.
