GBoard is the most installed and used Android keyboard app on Google Playstore. It is very reliable and easy to use. All of that is possible because it comes pre-installed on most Android devices. The Clipboard Manager feature was integrated into the Gboard app about two years ago, and here’s how you can use it to check and restore the clipboard history on your Android smartphone.
Step 1: While typing with Gboard, tap the clipboard icon next to the Google logo.
That will launch Gboard’s clipboard manager.
Step 2: To restore a specific text/clip from the clipboard, just tap it to paste it into the text box.
Note: By default, clips/text in Gboard’s clipboard manager are deleted after an hour.
To get the best out of Gboard’s clipboard manager, you want to make sure it’s always enabled and active. If you launch the clipboard manager and it says “Gboard clipboard is off”, you can simply enable it with the switch.
If the clipboard manager is disabled, Gboard will not back up copied text. And then there will be no way to recover them. If you’re a texting person or you often have to copy and paste a lot of stuff on your smartphone, you’ll find some of these clipboard apps even more interesting.
Some clipboard applications can filter and organize the contents of your clipboard into categories (URLs, addresses, etc.); encode clipboard content into a QR code; share clips with friends; translate clips into several languages and some other advanced features that the keyboard does not provide. There are many clipboard apps on the Google Play Store. Go through their features to see which one offers the features you need. However, for security and privacy purposes, make sure you use the necessary permissions of any clipboard app you choose to install.

- Sensitive information such as passwords, credit card details, PINs, etc. should not be copied to your phone’s clipboard, especially when using a third-party clipboard application.
- If you have sensitive data stored or pinned to your phone’s clipboard, be sure to unpin or delete them.
