When Facebook releases a new feature or product, it tends to make sure that everyone of its 1.5 billion users knows about it. There are banners on the front page, newspapers and videos flowing in. This time is different. Facebook quietly launched a read-later service for the web and all of its apps without much fanfare. However, it’s hard to see why, as this is at least a solid Facebook feature and it will only increase engagement while providing users with better service.

Facebook’s news feed is intelligently organized (based on algorithms that constantly adapt to the user, and those that sometimes cause users to experiment with thoughts) and not chronologically. So if you see a story at the top right now, it may remain at the top 2 hours from now, or it may not be there.
This makes it a bit more difficult to find Facebook posts later. Luckily, using Facebook’s new Save feature, you can easily save any type of link, page, place, movie, TV, and music right on Facebook. There is no support for images and videos yet.
Save is a small Pocket/Instapaper for the Facebook world.
Savings on Facebook
Facebook Save is accessible via the web and official apps. And circulation through them is also easy.
If you are visiting the website and see a link that you want to refer to later, click the down arrow button in the top right corner and you will see “Save…”. optionally with the name of the link. Click on it and the link will be saved.
Same goes for any page. Go to a page and from the three-dot icon you can select Rescue. That is the first option.
Mobile saving is similar for links. Tap the same down arrow icon for options to see the Save button.
When you visit a page (for any type of content like movies, TV shows, even places) on your phone, you see Rescue The button stands out proudly next to the like button.
View and manage saved content
On the website you will see a new one Saved options in the favorites panel on the left. All your saved content can be accessed from here. On mobile apps, the same option is in Than page.
Saved content is divided into categories. So you have different pages for links, places, movies, TV shows, books, etc. This can be really helpful when you go through old posts. Currently there is no search function but I hope they will soon.
Deleting content from your saved tabs is easy by pressing X button. Deleted content will be sent to Storage panel where you have the option to Unarchive it if you want.
Best use case scenario
While I don’t think Facebook Save will replace Pocket or Instapaper for most of us, I see the value of this service. A lot of vehicles were introduced to me on Facebook. It would be nice to be able to just save a TV show I want to watch or a book I want to watch someday without having to mess around with notes in Evernote or something complicated. So is the location. Every coffee shop and restaurant these days has a Facebook page.
So it makes sense to save the places you want to visit, and thanks to the different tabs for places, links, movies, etc., you can also easily access the important stuff.
