In today’s social world, our friends, work, and family require us to plan our lives in advance. Many of your events and appointments are written down in your calendar or planner. If you’re reading this, you’re in luck, as you’re probably using a digital system rather than just a diary lying around.
Google Calendar is great for managing your time and even allowing others in your home or work to participate. You can easily create different calendars, name them, and share them with others. You can have reminders for appointments, special announcements, etc.
Sharing a calendar with your spouse or significant other is always a good idea. One with your colleagues at work or one shared with your boss. Sharing a calendar from your personal account is pretty straightforward. But it can get a bit complicated if your team is using Google Apps email. I will explain the step-by-step process below for both cases.

Step 1: Sign in www.google.com/calendar.
Step 2: You will see the calendars listed in the left pane. Hover over the calendar in question and from the drop-down select Share this calendar.
Step 3: From Share with specific people enter an email address and from the drop-down menu select View all event details if you just want the person to see the calendar or Make changes if you want them to be allowed to edit permissions. You can also assign them sharing permissions.
And that’s it. The person will receive an email saying you shared the calendar with them. From the web view, it will be visible to them in their calendar section and all changes will be automatically synced to the connected devices.
You or your shared contacts are now free to add any events, and you’ll be notified of them if you’ve enabled notifications. The same goes for reminders.
If you don’t see the new shared calendar on your Android or iOS device, go to the Calendar app and from Calendar to display settings, make sure the new calendar is selected.
The process for sharing a Google Apps calendar is the same, but the principles are different. Because of the way Google Apps permissions are structured, only administrators, aka owners, have permission to add specific people who can make changes to the calendar.
If you’re not an admin, all you can do is make your calendar public or share it in your team (all email addresses run on Goggle Apps accounts). You can share it with a specific person but you only have the option to see new appointments, you cannot create your own.
Shared calendars are automatically synced on Android. If for some reason you don’t see updates from the shared calendar, open the default Calendar app on your phone, tap the three-dot menu, and select Calendar to display. Check the shared calendar and updates will show up.
If you’re using the default iPhone calendar app to view shared calendars, you’ll need to enable iPhone sync from Google first. Visit this page in any web browser when you are signed in to your own account (you don’t need the permission of the person who shared the calendar with you for this) and check the shared calendar (I have uncheck this calendar). Click Rescue and exit.
Refresh the calendar board in the iOS 7 app and you should see the shared calendar appear (as seen in the screenshot above).
Now that the calendar is synced and visible on all your devices, you are free to create new events and edit them on your shared calendar and updates will be synced. with all members.
