How to restart Chrome browser without losing open tabs?
Here’s a simple trick that uses one of Chrome’s internal commands as well as the bookmarks bar.
Right-click the Bookmarks bar — activate it by pressing ‘CTRL+SHIFT+B’ — and select ‘Add Page’ from the drop-down menu.
Name the bookmark, like we used ‘Restart Chrome’ for this example. Then type ‘chrome://restart’ in the URL box and click Save.
Once you’re done, the ‘Restart Chrome’ bookmark will appear in the bookmarks bar on Chrome.
Now all you need to do is click on the ‘Restart Chrome’ bookmark and the browser will close all open tabs and will automatically reopen all tabs right after closing them.
This is a useful tool for those who like a nifty way to combat unresponsive tabs. Note that any unsaved work on open tabs will be lost — such as completed forms or incomplete requests for a page.
