In my previous post on Moto G, 2nd gen, I talked about how the brand new Lollipop updates on the device did not receive a warm welcome from users, at least not the kind. that we expect. With many bugs in the release and many issues with the user interface, most users are thinking of going back to the stock Android 4.4.4 operating system that the device comes with.
So let’s see how we can restore the device back to stock and live with a less improved but better build for the 2nd gen Moto G. For those who want to stick with Lollipop, we’ll presents you with a better custom ROM that you can install to remove bugs and limitations.
Note: The device must be bootloader unlocked for the trick to work. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, you can follow our instructions. I recommend going through the first part of the tutorial, if not all, and doing the necessary setup.
Flashing back to stock image
Download and extract the ZIP file of the original image for the Motorola Moto G 2nd generation. Extract the files to the Fastboot folder. This image file will work on dual SIM X1068/X1069 devices. Please do not try to use this image on any other variant of Moto G, it may damage your device.
When everything is ready, open the command prompt in the fastboot folder and type the commands one by one. Wait for the previous command to execute before you type the next command. I recommend copying and pasting them directly from the article.
COMMAND:
fastboot flash rom partition\gpt.binfastboot flash motoboot rom\motoboot.imgfastboot flash rom logo\logo.binfastboot flash boot rom\boot.imgfastboot flash recovery rom\recovery.imgfastboot flash system rom\system.img_sparsechunk.0fastboot flash system rom\system .img_sparsechunk.1fastboot flash system rom\system.img_sparsechunk.2fastboot flash system rom\system.img_sparsechunk.3fastboot flash modem rom\NON-HLOS.binfastboot delete modemst1fastboot delete modemst2fastboot flash fsg rom\fsg. cachefastboot delete userdatafastboot reboot
After you execute the commands listed, the phone will reboot and you will get the original KitKat back. Since the device will be completely erased, you can now personalize it and restore your backups.
Custom Lollipop ROMs
For those who want to try out a custom ROM based on Lollipop instead of going back to the original KitKat, try the Titan Prime ROM. The ROM is based on Android 5.0.2 and Motorola’s 5.0.1 stock firmware. To flash the device, download and save the ROM file to the internal SD card and boot into recovery mode. Make sure you have TWRP recovery installed as in the previous guide.
Finally, remove Dalvik, Cache and System from Wipe it off option in TWRP and flash the ROM zip file. Flashing and first booting may take some time.
Conclusion
So that’s how you can flash the original Kitkat ROM on your Moto G 2nd Gen or install a better custom Lollipop ROM. Please make sure that you always back up the data on your phone as there are risks involved in performing these operations. If you have any doubts, feel free to ask in the comments section.
