Jackelin Castro, a Dominican Republican happens to be the ex-lover of former MLB star Robinson Cano. The duo started their love life in 2008 during the off-season of his career. They dated for two years and share a son called Robinson Miguel Cano Castro.Before they started dating, she was married and was a mother to three children. She and Cano were early into pregnancy with twins when she suffered a miscarriage in 2009, according to Castro. The cause of their break up is unknown.

Robinson José Canó Mercedes, widely known as Robinson Cano was born on October 22, 1982, in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. Robinson was named after legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson. Robinson’s father Jose Canó was a baseball player who pitched in six games for the Houston Astros in 1989. Robinson attended Barringer High School in Newark, New Jersey for one year and then attended San Pedro Apostol High School in San Pedro de Marcos back in the Dominican Republic. Canó played for both the school’s baseball and basketball teams. Canó eventually played for his hometown team the Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican Winter Baseball League.

After graduating from high school, Canó was signed as an amateur free agent by the Yankees on January 5, 2001, and received a signing bonus of about $100,000. In their minor league system, he made his debut with the Gulf Coast Yankees of the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League and the Staten Island Yankees of the Class-A Short Season New York–Penn League.

In 2002, Canó split his time between Staten Island and the Class-A South Atlantic League’s Greensboro Bats. When he played for the Tampa Yankees of the Class-A Advanced Florida State League and the Trenton Thunder of the Class-AA Eastern League in 2003, Canó was a promising prospect. In 2003, Canó took part in the All-Star Futures Game.

After hitting 330 in 108 at-bats with Columbus, Canó was promoted to the Major Leagues on May 3, 2005. At second base, he took over for Tony Womack. On May 5th, Canó hit his first professional base hit against Hideo Nomo of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Canó also struck his first professional grand slam during the season.
