Before we go ahead and use multiple windows on Windows 11, make sure you have the relevant options enabled from the Settings menu.
Enable Snap Windows from Windows 11 Settings
By default, the Snap windows option is enabled from the Settings menu. If you or the Windows operating system accidentally disabled it, it’s time to enable it.
Step 1: Open the Settings menu on Windows 11 (Use the Windows + I key combination).
Step 2: Go to the System menu.
Step 3: Select Multitasking.
Step 4: Enable Snap windows from the Multitasking menu.
Click the down arrow button and make sure that all options are enabled for Windows 11 multitasking. These functions are necessary for a smooth multitasking experience on Windows 11.

Using Multi-Windows on Windows 11
Microsoft also offers multiple windows on Windows 10 operating system. But the overall implementation is much better on Windows 11. Here’s what you need to do.
Open an application on Windows. Now hover your mouse pointer over the Zoom icon in the menu bar. Windows 11 will provide the option to use multi-window. Let’s discuss them.
Split application window in half

The first option will split the application window in half. You can choose left or right, and Windows 11 pins the app to the selected side. Microsoft both offer to open other background apps from the other side.

Use a 2:1 . arrangement
This is one of the multitasking styles we use the most on Windows 11. The second option allows users to keep one app on the right 1/3rd area and a second app on the left.

Split the screen into four parts
This option is ideal for those using Windows 11 on a larger screen. If you’re using Windows 11 on a 13/14 inch laptop, you won’t find it useful.
As you might have guessed from the multitasking preview, this option splits application windows into four sections. People using Windows 11 on large desktop computers such as 27- to 32-inch monitors will find this setting most useful.
Note: Using multiple windows in three or four sections will affect visibility and clarity. We recommend using this setting only on larger screens.
Split Windows horizontally in Windows 11
The user can also split the window horizontally. This is most useful for people using Windows 11 in a portrait setup. That way you won’t get much benefit by splitting the apps vertically. You need to split the app horizontally.
Open the app you want to split in the top half of the screen. Use the Windows + Up arrow key and pin it to the top. You can open application windows in the bottom half.
Alternatively, you can drag and drop the application windows on either side until the cursor moves. Release the cursor, pin apps, and use multi-window on Windows 11.
Windows 11 multitasking with external monitor
This is another improvement that Microsoft has made with Windows 11. When you set up multiple windows on your desktop using the multitasking options mentioned above, the system remembers those application locations. after you disconnect your Windows 11 laptop from the monitor.
