How to Use Dual Messenger on Samsung Galaxy Phones

The Samsung Galaxy usually gets some nifty features, not available for most Android phones. For instance, Dual Messenger lets you run two instances of the same messaging app so you can use two different accounts.

Since this is a native feature, you don’t need any third party support to clone the app. Let’s take a closer look at the Dual Messenger feature and how it works on Samsung Galaxy phones.

What is Dual Messenger on Samsung Galaxy phones

The Dual Messenger feature allows you to run two instances with two different accounts of the same messaging app. It allows you to install a second copy of the application that runs independently. With it, you can clone apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Snapchat and some others without affecting any features.

Dual Messenger is a blessing when you want to keep your personal and professional messaging profiles separate. However, you will need to follow a process to set it up and use it.

How to use Dual Messenger on Samsung Galaxy phones

To use Dual Messenger, you need to have a messaging app installed on your phone. You can then use the Dual Messenger feature to install a second copy of the app. Here’s how you can do it.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your Samsung Galaxy phone.

Step 2: Scroll down to the Advanced Features section and select Dual Messenger.

Step 3: You will find all supported apps (cloneable) in the Available Apps section. Toggle the switch next to the app you want to clone and select Install when asked to install a second copy of the app.

After installing the second instance of the app, you’ll find both copies of the app in the app drawer. The second app will have a Dual Messenger icon at the bottom right of the icon, making it easier to identify. When you open the second app, you’ll see the same Dual Messenger icon in the bottom right corner of the app’s loading screen.

You can launch the cloned app and start using it with your second account. Similarly, you can repeat the same steps above to clone more messaging apps on your Samsung Galaxy phone.

Use separate Contacts for secondary apps

If you want to manage your home and work profiles separately, Dual Messenger also allows you to maintain two separate contact lists for both versions of the app. Here’s how you can do it.

Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your phone. Go to Advanced Features and tap on Dual Messenger.

Step 2: Turn on the switch next to ‘Use private contact list’.

That’s it. You will be able to maintain separate contact lists for secondary applications.

Step 2: Go to “Use private contacts” and click Choose contacts.

Step 3: Tap the More button in the upper right corner to access your contact list. Select the contacts you want to add to the list and tap Done.

Step 4: Then you can manage contact list for secondary apps by adding or removing contacts.

How to disable Dual Messenger on Samsung phones

If you no longer intend to use secondary apps, disabling Dual Messenger is just as easy. Here’s how you do it.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your phone, navigate to Advanced features and select Dual Messenger.

Step 2: Turn off the switch next to the cloned app. When asked to confirm your choice and tap Uninstall. You can choose to keep or clear the app data while deleting the cloned app instance.

Also, if you have copied multiple messaging apps on your phone, you can also delete them all at once. To do so, tap the three-dot menu icon at the top right and select Erase all my data.

Select Delete when the prompt appears.

That’s it. Your sub-app will be gone. Deleting the cloned app will not affect the main app or the main app in any way. However, since Dual Messenger copies your existing apps, deleting the main app will also remove the cloned app from your phone.

The best of both worlds

The ability to run dual messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram allows you to use it to manage your personal and work profiles with ease. We didn’t face any issues using two separate WhatsApp accounts as both apps run perfectly fine.
