How To Stream Photos from Android to PC or TV

You’re sitting with family members, laughing about a funny moment in the recent past. And then they ask you to show them your wedding/baby photos. What do you do? The photos are on your phone. You can give them the phone and risk having them look at pictures you don’t want them to see.

Or you can pull up your laptop, PC, or Chromecast-enabled TV. And in seconds you’ll have your photo on the big screen, with you in the driver’s seat.

Transfer photos from Android to PC via Web

AirDroid does a lot of great things but it doesn’t seem to have a photo viewer/gallery feature. So I had to go look for something else. And I found an alternative, which looks exactly like an AirDroid clone but has this extra feature.

To get started, make sure that both your Android phone and PC (or even a smart TV with a web browser) are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Now, download the PC Suite Web app for Android and launch it. Go to PC/Smart TV and open www.webpcsuite.com. Apply your phone’s camera to the screen to authenticate with a QR code. That’s it, now the phone and PC are connected.

Side note: If you have a lot of apps and devices that connect to each other over Wi-Fi, Web PC Suite may cause you to fail to connect. If that happens, go to Setting and change the websocket to something else.

On the website, click Exhibition room icon. This will show all the images you have on your device. Scroll until you find the images you want to showcase. Click an image for a full screen preview. Use the left/right arrow keys to navigate.

The important thing to note here is that all of this happens very quickly. Images upload quickly and switching between them is smooth too. Don’t let the fact that it runs on a website deter you from trying it.

Using Chromecast

If your photos are backed up with Google+ (something you should really consider), you can go to the Photos app and stream them directly to your Chromecast when connected to the Internet.

But if you want to transfer photos from your local storage, we will need to download an app called PhotoCast.

Of course, for this to work, your Chromecast needs to be set up and connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Launch the app and connect to Chromecast using Cast button.

Then, browse the app’s albums and tap the photo you want to transfer to the screen. It will appear on the TV in a flash. You can change the layout from full screen to stacked or magazine style. There is also an option to start a slideshow.
