Most Android devices start the memory cleaning operation when the memory is half full. So you’re technically not using up all your RAM. In addition, these background cleaning activities can sometimes slow down your device. This can be clearly observed in mid-range and entry-level phones, where it doesn’t take long for the memory to be half full.

The flagship killer, the One Plus 3, also suffers from the same problem with its massive 6 GB of RAM. Games and applications will no longer be in memory as the memory will gradually fill up. However, there is a trick that you can apply on a rooted OnePlus 3 to make full use of the 6 GB of memory.
So here I want to show you how you can choose when your device starts cleaning memory. Thus, speeding up your device and making it more responsive as memory cleaning will be paused for a while.
However, before using the app, I suggest you learn some knowledge about what the app will do on your Android system.
What is swap?
One of the memory cleanup operations performed on RAM is Swap. What it actually does is swap the data (applications) from RAM to the part of your device designated for Virtual Memory. This is only enabled when the RAM reaches a certain value. Works slowly and can cause your device to lag and become unresponsive.
In your case, the Android system exchange the value will be set to 60. That means the RAM swap will be triggered when it’s half full. So the app that we are going to use here will help you to alleviate this easy to change value. Applications will stay in memory longer because the cleanup (swap) operation will not be triggered until it reaches the specified value. Thus, it will speed up your device as this operation will not be performed and you will also be able to keep more apps in memory.
How to reduce swap value?
If you have enough knowledge about init.d script on Android then you can do it manually and also set different parameters to your liking. However, the app we’ll be using here automatically does that for us in the original files.
This app is called Accelerated Swap. And all you have to do is simply choose how you want your device to behave. It will initially show you how your device is performing in its current state.
In Very slow swap value is 60, slow: 40, fast: 20 and very fast: 0. At Very fast the swap will be done when the memory is full. I do not recommend switching to Very fast. Instead, I suggest you stay Slow and when you think you need to do some heavy multitasking then switch to Fast.
The application also displays the commands it executes as Toast. You can see exchange value is changed. And yes, don’t forget to hit Finished and restart your phone. You will experience the quickness after the reboot. Also, try putting more apps in memory and check which configuration works for you.
It has its downsides
Well, the more memory is used, the more the battery will drain. In-memory applications also have processes running in the background. Hence CPU utilization. So this trick will speed up your device and let you use up memory but you have to deal with battery drain issue. During my use I did experience some battery drain but not badly.
